      • 담낭종양에서 CD24의 역할

        CD24 is a small heavily glycosylated glycosylphosphatidylinosito-linked cell surface protein, which is expressed in hematologic malignancies as well as in a large variety of solid tumors, It appears to function as a ligand of PUselectin, an adhesion molecule that is present in activated platelets and endothelial cells. The authors aimed to evaluate CD24 protein expression in adenoma and adenocarcinoma of gallbladder to correlate to clinicopathologic data. The staining- was evaluated as stainability (negative, weak-, moderate-, strong-positive) and staining' patterns (membranous vs. intracytoplasmic) for statistical analysis. A highly significant association of cytoplasmic CD24 expression with adenocarcinoma compared to the adenoma of gallbladder was demonstrated. The present study demonstrates that CD24 was abundantly expressed on adenocarcinoma rather than on adenoma, but it was not statistically significant, Interrelation between the stainability or intracytoplasmic staining of CD24 and lymph node metastasis was not statistically significant. The authors conclude that CD24 is involved in tumorigenesis of gallbladder mucosa and intracytoplasmic expression of CD24 is an important molecular marker for malignant transformation.

        본 논문에서는 초경량 항공기의 엔진 마운트 구조물에 대한 유한요소 해석을 수행하였으며, 구조의 안전성 확보에 중요한 영향을 주는 부분인 복합재료 동체와 엔진 마운트 간의 연결 부위에 대한 해석을 위해 유한요소 프로그램을 작성하였다. 본 연구에 의해 작성된 유한요소 프로그램의 신뢰성을 확인하기 위해 실제로 시편 제작 실험을 실시하여 실험치와 해석치를 비교 검토하였다. The finite element analysis was performed on the ULM's engine mount to verify the structural safety Result showed that proposed engine mount structure has a large margine of safety. Strains and stresses in the vicinity of the joint between a composite fuselage and a metallic engine mount were calculated by the finite element analysis program. Numerical results from the model were compared with the test results. Good agreement was found between experiment and model results.

      • 가토에서 일측 요관 부분 및 완전폐색시 신장과 요관의 조직학적 변화

        This study was designed to clarify histologic changes in the experimental rabbit kidney and ureter after unilateral partial or complete ureteral obstruction. A total of 20 adult white rabbits were divided into 4 subgroups in the partial obstruction followed by 2 weeks, the partial obstruction followed by 4 weeks, the complete obstruction followed by 2 weeks, and the complete obstruction followed by 4 weeks. The normal control group was consisted of 5 adult white rabbits. The kidneys and ureters for light microscopy were fixed in 10% neutral formalin, embedded in paraffin and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Abnormal histologic fingings showed in ipsilateral kidney and ureter of all subgroups(such as dilatation of uriniferous tubule, focal necrosis and desquamation of epithelium, interstitial fibrosis, glomerular congestion, widening of Bowman's space, dilatation of ureter, epithelial cell atrophy or loss, interstitial fibrosis and interstitial inflammation). These findings were most severe in the group of the complete-obstructed ureter for 4 weeks. No significant changes showed in contralateral ureter of all subgroups. The degree of obstruction was severe and period of obstruction was long, the histological changes in ipsilateral side were severe. Despite of changes in ipsilateral side no abnormal findings showed in contralateral side. We suggest that long term experimental investigation of histologic changes in ipsilateral side and compensatory changes in contralateral side have to be studied.

        Effect of Manufacturing Method and Acidifier on the Dissolution Rate of Carvedilol from Solid Dispersion Formulations

        In this study, we demonstrated the release behavior of carvedilol with the content of polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 (PVP K-30) and the effect of citric acid and fumaric acid as acidifiers on the release behavior of drug. In addition, it tries to inquire into the release behavior difference of the carvedilol according to the manufacturing method. The release behavior of the tablets was compared with Dilatrand$^{(R)}$ in the simulated gastric fluid (pH1.2). Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were characterized for the physicochemical properties of the tablets. In case of mixing the carvedilol and PVP K-30, in case the ratio of the carvedilol and PVP K-30 was 1:5, the release behavior was the highest among. As well as the dissolution rate of tablets manufactured by lyophilization and rotary evaporator was higher than physical mixture. The dissolution rate of containing acidifiers was more improved. But, rather the excessive amount of the acidifier addition reduced the dissolution rate.

      • ELSEVIER : Ubiquitination-dependent CARM1 degradation facilitates Notch1-mediated podocyte apoptosis in diabetic nephropathy

        Podocyte apoptosis induced by hyperglycemia is considered a critical factor in the development of diabetic nephropathy. Recent studies have implicated Notch signaling in podocyte apoptosis; however, its regulatory mechanisms are not fully understood. In this study. we found that high-glucose treatment increased Notchl and jagged-l expression, the transcriptional activity of Hes. and podocyte apoptosis, and decreased the expression of coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARMI) in rat podocytes. Transient transfection of CARMI reversed high-glucose-induced Notchl expression. the transcriptional activity of Hes, and podocyte apoptosis. Moreover. the silendng of CARMI using siRNA increased Notchl expression. the transctiptional activity of Hes, and podocyte apoptosis. However, the Glu266-mediated enzymatic activity of CARMI was not necessary for Notch signaling activation and podocyte apoptosis. Here, we demonstrate that AMP-activated protein kinase alpha (AMPKa) and cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB,R) are regulated by CARMI and that high-glucose-induced podocyte apoptosis is mediated by a CARMl-AMPKa-Notchl-CB,R signaling axis. We also show that highglucose-induced CARMI downregulation is due to ubiquitination-dependent CARMI degradation. Finally, we demonstrate that CARMI expression in podocytes was diminished in rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes compared to vehicle-treated rats. Together, our data provide evidence that ubiquitination-dependent CARMI degradation in podocytes in diabetes promotes podocyte apoptosis via Notch 1 activation. Strategies to preserve CARMI expression or reduce the enzymatic activity of a ubiquitin ligase specific for CARMI could be used to prevent podocyte loss in diabetic nephropathy. ⓒ2014 Published by Elsevier lnc.

      • Potential hybrids of Miscanthus sinensis x M. sacchariflorus revealed by morphological traits analysis

        More than 300 Miscanthus accessions as a potential bioenergy crop were collected in Korea and their morphological traits were investigated at various growth stages. Among morphological traits, stem growth habit, the presence of awn in spikelet, and autumn new shoot are the most important key traits enabling to cluster Miscanthus accessions into M. sinensis and M. sacchariflorus groups. Miscanthus sinensis has bunch stem growth habit and awn in spikelet, and produces autumn new shoot, while M. sacchariflorus has scattering stem growth habit with no awn in spikelet and does not produce autumn new shoot. Interestingly, we found several Miscanthus accessions showing intermediate morphological traits. 7 M. sinensis accessions showed morphological traits similar to M. sacchariflorus and 17 M. sacchariflorus accessions showed morphological traits similar to M. sinensis. Flow cytometry and chromosome counting finally revealed 5 Miscanthus hybrids, suggesting that they are resulted from natural hybridization between M. sinensis and M. sacchariflorus. Therefore, these Miscanthus hybrids can be used to understand genetic recombination between these two Miscanthus species and our understanding may support future efforts for breeding new Miscanthus variety with high biomass productivity and environmental adaptability.

        Vein of Galen 기형 환아에서 중재적 방사선하 혈관내 색전술시의 마취관리 경험

        Anesthetic Management during Interventional Neuroradiologic Embolization of a Vein of Galen Malformation - A case report - Kyu Seok Han, M.D., Sung Sik Park, M.D., Dong Gun Lim, M.D. Yong Sun Kim, M.D.^*, and Jung Gil Hong, M.D. Department of Anesthesiology and ^*Diagnostic Radiology, School of Medicine, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, Korea The vein of Galen malformation is a midline intracranial arteriovenous fistula with aneurysmal dilatation of the vein of Galen. This abnormality, though rare, is associated with a bleak prognosis and significant mortality. However, significant advancements have been made in understanding the path-ophysiology of this abnormality, and improvements in both interventional neuroradiologic embolization and microneurosurgical techniques have contributed to a better outcome. In neuroradiologic embolization, children are likely to become agitated and confused and thereby jeopardize the entire procedure. For this reason, this procedure is performed with the children under general anesthesia. We experienced a case of neuroradiologic embolization under general anesthesia with propofol. The patient was 9-year-old boy who weighed 29 kg. He was healthy and had no other abnormalities in our preoperative evaluation. Throughout the entire procedure, especially before and after closure of the fistula, hemo-dynamic changes and unexpected events did not appear. (Korean J Anesthesiol 2001; 41: 388~392)

      • Control effect of anion on Tetranychus urticae and Aphis gossypii

        식물에 전기장을 처리하면 식물의 생장속도가 빨라지거나 영양학적으로 긍정적인 변화가 생긴다고 알려져 있다. 최근 음이온 처리 시 식물에 전기장을 처리한 것과 유사한 효과가 나타난다고 보고되었고 본 연구에서는 이러한 음이온을 온실해충인 점박이응애와 목화진딧물에 처리하여 방제효과 여부를 확인하였다. 그 결과 음이 온 처리 시 점박이응애와 목화진딧물에서 살충효과와 기피효과가 나타났다. 또한, 점박이응애 알에서도 음이온 처리가 부화율에 영향을 주는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 시험 결과를 바탕으로 온실에서 밀도실험 결과, 700,000 ion/cm3 농도에서 무처리구에 비해 밀도가 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서, 본 연구는 음이온 처리 시, 부가적인 효과로 온실해충(점박이응애, 목화진딧물)에 대해 친환경적 방제 가능성을 보여준다.

        Quantitative Analysis of Channel Width Effects on Electrical Performance Degradation of Top-gate Self-aligned Coplanar IGZO Thin-film Transistors under Self-heating Stresses

        In this study, a quantitative analysis was conducted on the effects of channel width on electrical performance degradation induced by self-heating stress (SHS) in top-gate self-aligned coplanar indium-gallium-zinc oxide (IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs). From the transfer and capacitance-voltage curves obtained before and after SHS, we revealed that the electrical performance of the TFT was nonuniformly degraded along the channel length direction and the degree of this degradation was more significant in TFTs with a wider channel width. The threshold voltage shift (ΔVTH) under SHS in the fabricated IGZO TFT was mainly attributed to the increase in the density of shallow donor states and acceptor-like deep states in the IGZO active region and electron trapping into the fast and slow traps in the SiOX gate dielectric. In addition, we conducted a decomposition of the SHS-induced ΔVTH originated from each degradation mechanism using the subgap density of states-based ΔVTH decomposition technique for TFTs with different channel widths. Although every ΔVTH from each degradation mechanism increased as the channel width increased, increased electron trapping into the slow trap in the SiOX gate dielectric was the dominant reason for the larger ΔVTH under SHS in IGZO TFTs with a wider channel width.
