<P>We report a measurement of the ratio R(D*) = B((B) over bar (0) -> D*(+)tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar (0) -> D*(+)l(-)(nu) over bar (l))where l denotes an electron or a muon. The results are based on a data sample containing 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. We select a sample of B-0(B) over bar (0) pairs by reconstructing both B mesons in semileptonic decays to D*(-/+)l(+/-). We measure R(D*) = 0.302 +/- 0.030(stat) +/- 0.011(syst), which is within 1.6 sigma of the Standard Model theoretical expectation, where the standard deviation sigma includes systematic uncertainties. We use this measurement to constrain several scenarios of new physics in a model-independent approach.</P>

<P>We report a measurement of time-dependent CP violation parameters in B-0 -> K-S(0)eta gamma decays. The study is based on a data sample, containing 772 x 10(6)B(B)over-bar pairs, that was collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We obtain the CP violation parameters of S = -1.32 +/- 0.77(stat) +/- 0.36(syst) and A = -0.48 +/- 0.41(stat) f 0.07(syst) for the invariant mass of the K-S(0)eta system up to 2.1 GeV/c(2).</P>

<P>We search for CP violation in the charged charm meson decay D+ -> pi(+)pi(0), based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 921 fb(-1) collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e(+)e(-) asymmetric-energy collider. The measured CP-violating asymmetry is [+2.31 +/- 1.24(stat) +/- 0.23(syst)] %, which is consistent with the standard model prediction and has a significantly improved precision compared to previous results.</P>

<P>We search for the rare radiative decay D-0 -> gamma gamma using a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 832 fb(-1) recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) asymmetric-energy collider. We find no statistically significant signal and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(D-0 -> gamma gamma) < 8.5 x 10(-7) at 90% confidence level. This is the most restrictive limit on the decay channel to date.</P>

Search for light tetraquark states in ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) decays

<P>We search for the J(PC) = 0(--) and 1(+-) light tetraquark states with masses up to 2.46 GeV/c(2) in gamma(1S) and gamma(2S) decays with data samples of (102 +/- 2) million and (158 +/- 4) million events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the studied production modes, and 90% credibility level (C. L.) upper limits on their branching fractions in Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays are obtained. The inclusive branching fractions of the Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays into final states with f(1)(1285) are measured to be B(Upsilon(1S) -> f(1)(1285) + anything) = (46 +/- 28(stat) +/- 13(syst)) x 10(-4) and B(Upsilon(2S) -> f(1)(1285) + anything) = (22 +/- 15(stat) +/- 6.3(syst)) x 10(-4). The measured chi(b2) -> J/Psi + anything branching fraction is measured to be (1.50 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.22(syst)) x 10(-3), and 90% C. L. upper limits for the chi(b0;b1) -> J/Psi + anything branching fractions are found to be 2.3 x 10(-3) and 1.1 x 10(-3), respectively. For B(chi(b1) -> omega + anything), the branching fraction is measured to be (4.9 +/- 1.3(stat) +/- 0.6(syst) x 10(-2). All results reported here are the first measurements for these modes.</P>

High-energy nuclear collisions create an energy density similar to that of the Universe microseconds after the Big Bang; in both cases, matter and antimatter are formed with comparable abundance. However, the relatively short-lived expansion in nuclear collisions allows antimatter to decouple quickly from matter, and avoid annihilation. Thus, a high-energy accelerator of heavy nuclei provides an efficient means of producing and studying antimatter. The antimatter helium-4 nucleus (), also known as the anti-慣 (), consists of two antiprotons and two antineutrons (baryon number B = ??4). It has not been observed previously, although the 慣-particle was identified a century ago by Rutherford and is present in cosmic radiation at the ten per cent level. Antimatter nuclei with B??<????1 have been observed only as rare products of interactions at particle accelerators, where the rate of antinucleus production in high-energy collisions decreases by a factor of about 1,000 with each additional antinucleon. Here we report the observation of , the heaviest observed antinucleus to date. In total, 18 counts were detected at the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC; ref. 6) in 10<SUP>9</SUP> recorded gold-on-gold (Au+Au) collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 200??GeV and 62??GeV per nucleon??nucleon pair. The yield is consistent with expectations from thermodynamic and coalescent nucleosynthesis models, providing an indication of the production rate of even heavier antimatter nuclei and a benchmark for possible future observations of in cosmic radiation.

We present first measurements of the evolution of the differential transverse momentum correlation function, C, with collision centrality in Au+Au interactions at s<SUB>NN</SUB>=200 GeV. This observable exhibits a strong dependence on collision centrality that is qualitatively similar to that of number correlations previously reported. We use the observed longitudinal broadening of the near-side peak of C with increasing centrality to estimate the ratio of the shear viscosity to entropy density, η/s, of the matter formed in central Au+Au interactions. We obtain an upper limit estimate of η/s that suggests that the produced medium has a small viscosity per unit entropy.
