Effect of wind time on the dispersal capacity of Trichogramma dendrolimi Matsumura (Hymenoptera Trichogrammatidae)

        Jin-cheng Zhou,Qian-jin Dong,Tong-shu Zhang,Li-jia Duan,Su-fang Ning,Quanquan Liu,Yuan-yuan Li,Chun-xue Li,Hui Dong 한국응용곤충학회 2019 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.22 No.3

The efficacy of Trichogramma against pests basically depends on the dispersal capacity of the wasps. A releaserecapture method was used in this study to evaluate the effect of relative wind speed (RWS) during the nighttime and the daytime on the dispersal capacity of postrelease population of Trichogramma dendrolimi Matsumura. Two repeated measurements were carried out, using sentinel cards with the host eggs and yellow sticky card traps on the third and the sixth day after wasp release. The results showed that: (1) both the number of recaptured wasps and parasitized eggs increased with the RWS in the daytime during the first three days. The number of parasitized eggs also increased with the RWS in the daytime over the latter three days. The distances that encompassed 98% recaptured T. dendrolimi adults (X 98 ) at the first three days was quadratically increased by the RWS of the daytime. (2) The number of wasps recaptured decreased with the distance from the releasing point during the first three days, but it was not influenced by the distance from the releasing point during the latter three days. (3) The average dispersal radius of the wasps during the first three days was shorter than during the latter three days. The present results will be helpful to improve release techniques based on the wind effects at different times.

Experimental and Numerical Simulation Study on Mechanical Properties of Shallow Slope Root-soil Composite in Qinghai Area

        Yuan Sun,Hui Li,Zhifeng Cheng,Jianpeng Dong,Yawei Wang 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.7

Natural disasters such as landslides often occur in Qinghai under the double deterioration ofearthquake and freeze-thaw cycles, ecological slope protection is an effective way to preventand control this type of disaster. In this paper, the mechanical properties of root-soilcomposites are investigated experimentally using triaxial apparatus and dynamic single shear(DSS) apparatus, and based on the discrete element method, a contact model more suitablefor reinforced soil materials is proposed to study the dynamic properties of root-soilcomposites under cyclic shear from a fine viewpoint. Based on the results of the study, thefollowing conclusions were drawn: 1) The presence of roots under the action of freeze-thawcycles increases the strength properties of the soil. At the same number of freeze-thaw cycles, the shear strength and cyclic resistance of the root-soil composites are higher than those of theloess. And the strength of the root-soil composites decreases with the increase of the numberof freeze-thaw cycles and then flattens out; 2) The proposed contact model can bettersimulate the softening effect of reinforced loess material under cyclic shear, which is moresuitable for simulating the mechanical behavior of loess and laying the foundation for furtherstudy of reinforced loess material from a fine viewpoint.; 3) The presence of the root systemwill improve the stability of the slope soil, and the root system will have a positive effect on theshear strength of the soil when the moisture content is within a certain range. The presence ofthe root system also increases the cyclic resistance of the soil. Under the same cyclic shearstress conditions, the number of damage cycles of the root-soil composites is higher than thatof the loess, the cumulative shear strain is less than that of the loess. However, the root systemno longer exerts positive effects under saturated conditions. The research results can providesome guidance for the construction of ecological slopes in loess areas, and provide a new wayto investigate the dynamic properties of root-soil composites from a fine viewpoint.

Identification of an immune-related risk signature and nomogram predicting the overall survival in patients with endometrial cancer

        Yuan Cheng,Xingchen Li,Yibo Dai,Yangyang Dong,Xiao Yang,Jianliu Wang 대한부인종양학회 2021 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.32 No.3

Objective: Aimed to construct an immune-related risk signature and nomogram predictingendometrial cancer (EC) prognosis. Methods: An immune-related risk signature in EC was constructed using the least absoluteshrinkage and selection operator regression analysis based on The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases. A nomogram integrating theimmune-related genes and the clinicopathological characteristics was established andvalidated using the Kaplan-Meier survival curve and receiver operating characteristic (ROC)curve to predict the overall survival (OS) of EC patients. The Estimation of STromal andImmune cells in MAlignant Tumor tissues using Expression data (ESTIMATE) R tool wasused to explore the immune and stromal scores. Results: CCL17, CTLA4, GPI, HDGF, HFE2, ICOS, IFNG, IL21R, KAL1, NR3C1, S100A2, andS100A9 were used in developing an immune-related risk signature evaluation model. TheKaplan-Meier curve indicated that patients in the low-risk group had better OS (p<0.001). The area under the ROC curve (AUC) values of this model were 0.737, 0.764, and 0.782 for the3-, 5-, and 7-year OS, respectively. A nomogram integrating the immune-related risk modeland clinical features could accurately predict the OS (AUC=0.772, 0.786, and 0.817 at 3-, 5-,and 7-year OS, respectively). The 4 immune cell scores were lower in the high-risk group. Forkhead box P3 (FOXP3) and basic leucine zipper ATF-like transcription factor (BATF)showed a potential significant role in the immune-related risk signature. Conclusion: Twelve immune-related genes signature and nomogram for assessing the OS ofpatients with EC had a good practical value.

      • 8q24 rs4242382 Polymorphism is a Risk Factor for Prostate Cancer among Multi-Ethnic Populations: Evidence from Clinical Detection in China and a Meta-analysis

        Zhao, Cheng-Xiao,Liu, Ming,Xu, Yong,Yang, Kuo,Wei, Dong,Shi, Xiao-Hong,Yang, Fan,Zhang, Yao-Guang,Wang, Xin,Liang, Si-Ying,Zhao, Fan,Zhang, Yu-Rong,Wang, Na-Na,Chen, Xin,Sun, Liang,Zhu, Xiao-Quan,Yuan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.19

Background: Evidence supporting an association between the 8q24 rs4242382-A polymorphism and prostate cancer (PCa) risk has been reported in North American and Europe populations, though data from Asian populations remain limited. We therefore investigated this association by clinical detection in China, and meta-analysis in Asian, Caucasian and African-American populations. Materials and Methods: Blood samples and clinical information were collected from ethnically Chinese men from Northern China with histologically-confirmed PCa (n=335) and from age-matched normal controls (n=347). The 8q24 (rs4242382) gene polymorphism was genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-high-resolution melting analysis. We initially analyzed the associations between the risk allele and PCa and clinical covariates. A meta-analysis was then performed using genotyping data from a total of 1,793 PCa cases and 1,864 controls from our study and previously published studies in American and European populations, to determine the association between PCa and risk genotype. Results: The incidence of the risk allele was higher in PCa cases than controls (0.222 vs 0.140, $P=7.3{\times}10^{-5}$), suggesting that the 8q24 rs4242382-A polymorphism was associated with PCa risk in Chinese men. The genotypes in subjects were in accordance with a dominant genetic model (ORadj=2.03, 95%CI: 1.42-2.91, $Padj=1.1{\times}10^{-4}$). Presence of the risk allele rs4242382-A at 8q24 was also associated with clinical covariates including age at diagnosis ${\geq}65$ years, prostate specific antigen >10 ng/ml, Gleason score <8, tumor stage and aggressive PCa, compared with the non-risk genotype ($P=4.6{\times}10^{-5}-3.0{\times}10^{-2}$). Meta-analysis confirmed the association between 8q24 rs4242382-A polymorphism and PCa risk (OR=1.62, 95%CI: 1.39-1.88, $P=1.0{\times}10^{-5}$) across Asian, Caucasian and African American populations. Conclusions: The replicated data suggest that the 8q24 rs4242382-A variation might be associated with increased PCa susceptibility in Asian, Caucasian and African American populations. These results imply that this polymorphism may be a useful risk biomarker for PCa in multi-ethnic populations.

      • Fangchinoline Inhibits Cell Proliferation Via Akt/GSK-3beta/cyclin D1 Signaling and Induces Apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cells

        Wang, Chang-Dong,Yuan, Cheng-Fu,Bu, You-Quan,Wu, Xiang-Mei,Wan, Jin-Yuan,Zhang, Li,Hu, Ning,Liu, Xian-Jun,Zu, Yong,Liu, Ge-Li,Song, Fang-Zhou Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.2

Fangchinoline (Fan) inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in several cancer cell lines. The effects of Fan on cell growth and proliferation in breast cancer cells remain to be elucidated. Here, we show that Fan inhibited cell proliferation in the MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line through suppression of the AKT/Gsk-3beta/cyclin D1 signaling pathway. Furthermore, Fan induced apoptosis by increasing the expression of Bax (relative to Bcl-2), active caspase 3 and cytochrome-c. Fan significantly inhibited cell proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells in a concentration and time dependent manner as determined by MTT assay. Flow cytometry analysis demonstrated that Fan treatment of MDA-MB-231 cells resulted in cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase, which correlated with apparent downregulation of both mRNA and protein levels of both PCNA and cyclin D1. Further analysis demonstrated that Fan decreased the phosphorylation of AKT and GSK-3beta. In addition, Fan up-regulated active caspase3, cytochrome-c protein levels and the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2, accompanied by apoptosis. Taken together, these results suggest that Fan is a potential natural product for the treatment of breast cancer.

The Na2SO4 as a surfactant was helpful in improving the dispersity of the crystallites and forming well-faceted, micro-sized dodecahedral YAG crystallites. The effect of the reaction time and the solvent has also been studied. The crystal growth mechanism called dissolution/crystallization was determined by analyzing the experimental and simulated results. And the specific well-developed crystal facets in the {110} family have been demonstrated by the theoretical calculation. A higher integrated emission intensity can be achieved for the YAG:Ce crystallites by improving the phase purity, morphology with better developed dodecahedrons, and dispersion. Furthermore, a rather high luminous efficacy (LE = 104.14 lm/W) for the white LED fabricated using the YAG:Ce3+ phosphor prepared in this work was realized. • Knockdown of Radixin by RNA interference Suppresses the Growth of Human Pancreatic Cancer Cells in Vitro and in Vivo

        Chen, Shu-Dong,Song, Mao-Min,Zhong, Zhi-Qiang,Li, Na,Wang, Pi-Lin,Cheng, Shi,Bai, Ri-Xing,Yuan, Hui-Sheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.3

Radixin, encoded by a gene on chromosome 11, plays important roles in cell motility, invasion and tumor progression. However, its function in pancreatic cancer remains elusive. In this study, radixin gene expression was suppressed with a lentivirus-mediated short-hairpin RNA (shRNA) method. We found that radixin shRNA caused down-regulation of radixin in PANC-1 cells, associated with inhibition of pancreatic cancer cell proliferation, survival, adhesion and invasive potential in vitro. When radixin-silenced cells were implanted in nude mice, tumor growth and microvessel density were significantly inhibited as compared to blank control cells or nonsense shRNA control cells. Thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1) and E-cadherin were up-regulated in radixin-silenced PANC-1 cells. Our results suggest that radixin might play a critical role in pancreatic cancer progression, possibly through invvolvement of down-regulation of TSP-1 and E-cadherin expression.

      • Morphological Factors and Cardiac Doses in Whole Breast Radiation for Left-sided Breast Cancer

        Guan, Hui,Dong, Yuan-Li,Ding, Li-Jie,Zhang, Zi-Cheng,Huang, Wei,Liu, Cheng-Xin,Fu, Cheng-Rui,Zhu, Jian,Li, Hong-Sheng,Li, Miao-Miao,Li, Bao-Sheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.7

Background: To investigate the impact of the breast size, shape, maximum heart depth (MDH), and chest wall hypotenuse (the distance connecting middle point of the sternum and the length of lung draw on the selected transverse CT slice) on the volumetric dose to heart with whole breast irradiation (WBI) of left-sided breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods: Fifty-three patients with left-sided breast cancer undergoing adjuvant intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) were enrolled in the study. The primary breast size and shape, MHD and DCWH (chest wall hypotenuse) were contoured on radiotherapy (RT) planning CT slices. The dose data of hearts were obtained from the dose-volume histograms (DVHs). Data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Student's t-test and linear regression analysis. Results: Breast size was independent of heart dose, whereas breast shape, MHD and DCWH were correlated with heart dose. The shapes of breasts were divided into four types, as the flap type, hemisphere type, cone type and pendulous type with heart mean dose being $491.8{\pm}234.6cGy$, $752.7{\pm}219.0cGy$, $620.2{\pm}275.7cGy$, and $666.1{\pm}238.0cGy$, respectively. The flap type of breasts shows a strong statistically reduction in heart dose, compared to others (p=0.008 for V30 of heart). DCWH and MHD were found to be the most important parameters correlating with heart dose in WBI. Conclusions: More attention should be paid to the heart dose of non-flap type patients. The MHD was found to be the most important parameter to correlate with heart dose in tangential WBI, closely followed by the DCWH, which could help radiation oncologists and physicsts evaluate heart dose and design RT plan in advance.

Development and validation of a prognostic model based on metabolic risk score to predict overall survival of endometrial cancer in Chinese patients

        Xingchen Li,Xiao Yang,Yuan Cheng,Yangyang Dong,Jingyuan Wang,Jianliu Wang 대한부인종양학회 2023 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.34 No.6

Objective: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is closely related to the increased risk and poor prognosis of endometrial cancer (EC). The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between metabolic risk score (MRS) and EC, and establish a predictive model to predict the prognosis of EC. Methods: A retrospective study was designed of 834 patients admitted between January 2004 to December 2019. Univariate and multivariate Cox analysis were performed to screen independent prognostic factors for overall survival (OS). A predictive nomogram is built based on independent risk factors for OS. Consistency index (C-index), calibration plots and receiver operating characteristic curve were used to evaluate the predictive accuracy of the nomogram. Results: The patients were randomly divided into training cohort (n=556) and validation cohort (n=278). The MRS of EC patients, ranging from −8 to 15, was calculated. Univariate and multivariate Cox analysis indicated that age, MRS, FIGO stage, and tumor grade were independent risk factors for OS (p<0.05). The Kaplan–Meier analysis demonstrated that EC patients with low score showed a better prognosis in OS. Then, a nomogram was established and validated based on the above four variables. The C-index of nomogram were 0.819 and 0.829 in the training and validation cohorts, respectively. Patients with high-risk score had a worse OS according to the nomogram. Conclusion: We constructed and validated a prognostic model based on MRS and clinical prognostic factors to predict the OS of EC patients accurately, which may help clinicians personalize prognostic assessments and effective clinical decisions.

Rheological Phase Synthesis of Er-Doped LiV3O8 as Electroactive Material for a Cathode of Secondary Lithium Storage

        Ling-Ling Xie,Yuan-Dong Xu,Jie-Jie Zhang,Cheng-Peng Zhang,Xiao-Yu Cao,Ling-Bo Qu 대한금속·재료학회 2013 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.9 No.4

Er-doped LiV3O8 as cathode material for secondary lithium batteries was prepared through a rheological phase reaction method. The as-prepared materials were investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and galvanostatic discharge/charge measurements. The results indicate that Er doped phase preserves the layered structure of the pristine LiV3O8 and has an enlarged interlayer spacing. Compared to LiV3O8 sample, Er-doped LiV3O8 sample displays more uniform particles and large surface area. The electrochemical test shows that Er doping does not change the process of Li+ insertion/deinsertion. Er-doped LiV3O8 electrode exhibits an initial discharge capacity of 294.2 mAh g−1 and maintains a stable capacity of 220.7 mAh g−1 after 50 cycles, indicating a greatly improved good cycleability comparing with the undoped one.
