β-Arrestins, proteins involved in the turn-off of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) activation, bind to the β_2-adaptin subunit of the clathrin adaptor AP-2. The interaction of β_2-adaptin with β-Arrestin involves critical arginine residues in the C-terminal domain of β-Arrestin and plays an important role in initiating clathrin-mediated endocytosis of the β_2-adrenergic receptor(β_2AR) (Laporte, S. A., Oakley, R. H., Holt, J. A., Barak, L. S., and Caron, M. G. (2000) J. Biol. Chem. 276, 23120-23126). However, the β-arrestin-binding site in β_2-adaptin has not been identified, and little is known about the role of β-arrestin/AP-2 interaction in the endocytosis of other GPCRs. Using in vitro binding assays, we have identified two glutamate residues (Glu-849 and Glu-902) in β_2-adaptin that are important in β-arrestin binding. These residues are located in the platform subdomain of the C terminus β_2-adaptin, where accessory/adapter endocytic proteins for other classes of receptors interact, distinct from the main site where clathrin interact. The functional significance of the β-arrestin/AP-2/clathrin complex in the endocytosis of GPCRs such as the β_2AR and vasopressin type Ⅱ receptor was evaluated using mutant constructs of the β_2-adaptin C terminus containing either the clathrin and the β-arrestin binding domains or the β-arrestin-binding domain alone. When expressed in human embryonic kidney 293 cells, both constructs acted as dominant negatives inhibiting the agonist-induced internalization of the β_2AR and the vasopressin type Ⅱ receptor. In addition, although the β_2-adaptin construct containing both the clathrin and β-arrestin binding domains was able to block the endocytosis of transferrin receptors, a β_2-adaptin construct capable of assoociating with β-arrestin but lacking its high affinity clathrin interaction did not interfere with transferrin receptor endocytosis. These results suggest that the interaction of β-arrestin with β_2-adaptin represents a selective endocytic trigger for several members of the GPCR family.

Free-standing carbon nanotube (CNT) frameworks have been found to be highly effective in increasing sulfur loading and energy density of lithium?sulfur (Li?S) batteries. This owes to their ability to accommodate a large amount of sulfur in their interspaces. Also, this solution does require neither a binder nor a current collector. As a drawback, the application of free-standing CNT frameworks suffers from the abundance of their inherent macroporosities, as these promote the diffusion of polysulfides. In this work, we address this issue by incorporating disordered mesoporous carbon (DMC), as a polysulfide reservoir, into a CNT matrix to form CNT?DMC hybrid film. We apply facile hot-pressing to incorporate sulfur into the composite electrode. Furthermore, we determine the electrochemical performances of CNT?DMC/sulfur (S) cathode by a galvanostatic method. We find that the CNT?DMC/S cathode exhibits a high initial capacity of 1032 mAh/g at 0.25 C and a superior capacity retention of 92% after 100 cycles, compared to sulfur-impregnated CNT cathode. We attribute these enhancements to the efficient polysulfide absorption ability of DMC. This novel approach bears a high potential for the development of high-performance Li?S batteries with flexible sulfur cathodes.
The Phase Estimation Algorithm of Arrival Phase Differences in Space-Time Coded Communication

One objective in developing the next generation of wireless communication systems is to increase data rates and reliability. A promising way to achieve this is to combine multiple-input and multiple-output signal processing with a space-time coding scheme, which offers higher coding and diversity gains and improves the spectrum efficiency and reliability of a wireless communication system. It is noted, however, that time delay differences and phase differences among different channels increase symbol interference and degrade system performance. In this letter, we investigate phase differences and their effects on multiple-input and multiple-output systems, and propose a compensation algorithm for the Rayleigh fading model to minimize their effects.

In this study Ni/nano-TiC functional composite coatings were produced by electro-codeposition of TiC nanoparticles (50 nm mean diameter) with nickel on 304L stainless steel support. Coatings were obtained from a Watts classical solution in which TiC nanoparticles were added. The surface morphology, chemical composition, structure, roughness and thickness, were evaluated in relation to the effect of TiC nanoparticles incorporation into Ni matrix. It was found that incorporation of TiC nanoparticles into the nickel matrix produces morphological changes in the deposit and increases the roughness. The fretting wear behavior in wet conditions of the obtained coatings was evaluated on a ball-on-plate configuration. To evaluate the wet fretting wear (tribocorrosion) behavior the open circuit potential was measured before, during and after the fretting tests at room temperature in the solution that simulates the primary water circuit of Pressurized Water Reactors. The results show that Ni/nano-TiC composite coatings exhibited a low friction coefficient, high nanohardness and fretting wear resistance in wet conditions compared with pure Ni coatings.
Escitalopram-Induced Amenorrhea and False Positive Urine Pregnancy Test

Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant approved by the Food and Drug Adminis-tration for the treatment of major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. A 34-year-old female pa-tient with major depressive disorder developed amenorrhea and had a false-positive urine pregnancy test after ini-tiation of escitalopram treatment. To our knowledge, no published case report of amenorrhea and false-positive urine pregnancy tests in women taking escitalopram exists. This case report suggests that women of child-bearingage should be carefully monitored for amenorrhea while they are on an antidepressant treatment regimen.
