A project has been launched and aims to introduce Amblyseius swirskii for the control of Tetranychuns urticae in rose cultivating greenhouse. This study was intended to use selective acaricide, sensibly, to reduce risk for the natural enemy agent of A. swirskii in controlling T. urticae. T. urticae was susceptible strain UD from Entomology laboratory of SNU and A. swirskii was purchased from commercially available source. When LC50s were compared with A. swirskii and T. urticae of abamectin 1.8EC and 7 other acaricides, chlorfenapyr+cyenopyrafen (4+20)SC, abamectin 1.8EC, and chlorfenapyr 10SC for A. swirskii showed 148, 74, and 14 times, respectively, higher dose than T. urticae, as selective acaricides. However, fenpropathrin 5EC and fenpyroximate 5SC for T. urticae showed 22, and 25 times, respectively, higher dose than A. swirskii. For T. urticae bifenazate 23.5SC and cyflumetofen 20SC showed more than 97% mortality at less than the recommended dose, but the acricides did not kill A. swirskii 16 and 4 times as much dose as the recommended dose. The results suggested that several acaricides have inherent lower toxicity to A. swirskii. For practical application, it might be recommended to use acaricides in a way to strengthen inherent selectivity.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>OBJECTIVE</B></P> <P>To analyze the characteristics of liver pacifying medicinal in the treatment of brain disease to provide scientific evidence in clinical usage on stroke.</P> <P><B>METHODS</B></P> <P>MEDLINE/PubMed, Google Scholar, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database were used as the literature sources. The Scientific name, Latin pharmaceutical name, Chinese name of 7 kinds of liver pacifying medicinal including Gouteng (<I>Ramulus Uncariae Rhynchophyllae cum Uncis</I>), Tianma (<I>Rhizoma Gastrodiae</I>), Juemingzi (<I>Semen Cassiae Obtusifoliae</I>), Quanxie (<I>Scorpio</I>), Wugong (<I>Scolopendra</I>), Jiangcan (<I>Bombyx Batryticatus</I>), and Dilong (<I>Pheretima Aspergillum</I>) were used as the keywords to search the databases for relevant publications up to July 2016. Their major compounds were also used as the keywords. The papers were selected based on the pharmacological activities and mechanisms of action related to brain diseases and subsequently, were analyzed and reviewed. We first described the origin, efficacy, and clinical indications of selected medicines, then brain disease specific activities focusing on stroke after the description of the general pharmacological activities.</P> <P><B>RESULTS</B></P> <P>On the basis of the literature of scientific studies and clinical use in traditional medicine, we found and discussed the characteristics of liver pacifying medicinal in stroke treatment. First, liver-pacifying medicinal, or their components, might pass through the blood-brain barrier and act directly on neurons or on the neural network to provide protective effects against brain disease. Second, although it could be used throughout the disease duration, treatment of stroke might be more effective from the subacute up to the convalescent phase than the acute phase.</P> <P><B>CONCLUSION</B></P> <P>We can suggest that live pacifying medicinal has beneficial pharmacological activities directly or indirectly on neurons in brain disease and is useful for the treatment of stroke from subacute to convalescent phase.</P>

This study was undertaker to define the usefulness of preoperative CA-125 assay as a diagnostic tumor marker in differentiating malignancy from benign ovarian mass. Serum CA - 125 were measured by Microparticle Enzyme Immunoassay(MEIA) in 94 patients with ovarian mass. The results were of follows ; 1. The mean value of preoperative serum CA-125 was 18.40u/ml in benign ovarian mass and 225.99u/ml in malignant ovarian mass(P$lt;0.001). 2. The positive rate of Ca-125 in benign ovarian mass was 10%, compared 80% in malignant ovarian mass. 3. In analysis of histologic type, positive rate of serum CA-125 in malignant serous tumor was 82%, compared 50% in malignant mucinous tumor. 4. No statistically significant correlation was observed between CA - 125 value and patient's age. 5. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value & negative predictive value were 80%, 90%, 60% & 96%, respectively in cut off value, 35u/ml, And increasing cut off value 65u/ml, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value & negative predictive value were 40%, 96%, 67%, 90%, respectively. These data suggest the preoperative serum CA-125 level correlate with maignant status in ovarian mass. And cut off value 35u/ml was better than 65u/ml in screening for ovarian cancer.

"Our purpose was to investigate the effects of hormone replacement therapy on the reactivity of monocyte in whole blood, mesured by tissue factor activity. Thirty-eight women were randomized into oral combind homone replacement therapy and underwent blood sampling before and 3 and 12 months of treament,The tissue factor activity in monocytes was measured both in unstimulated whole blood and after a weak lipopolisaccaide stimulation. After 12months of hormone replacement therapy there were significant reduction of tissue factor activity in both unstimulated and lipopolisaccaride stimulated monocyte (p<0.001). Twelve months of hormone replacement therapy reduces cellular activation of blood monocytes; these changes may account for some of the beneficial effects in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. "

2005년부터 2007년까지 경남 진주, 하동지역 매실에서 25종의 해충이 조사되었다. 붉은테두리진딧물(Rhopalosiphum rufiabdominale(Sasaki)), 외점애매미충(Singapora shinshana M.), 벚나무응애(Tetranychus viennensis Zacher), 복숭아유리나방(Synanthedon hector B.) 등이 주요해충 이었으며, 복숭아꽃바구미(Anthonomus persicae sp. nov.), 복숭아순나방(Grapholita molesta (Busk)), 담배거세미나방(Spodoptera litura F.), 복숭아혹진딧물(Myzus persicae) 등이 일시적으로 발생하는 해충으로 나타났다. 외점애매미충의 발생은 4월 하순부터 10월 하순까지 지속적으로 발생하였고, 벚나무응애는 5월초에 발생하기 시작하여 6월 하순에서 7월 상순사이에 정점에 도달한 후 잎의 섭식조건 악화와 더불어 밀도가 감소하였다. 복숭아유리나방은 6월 중순 뚜렷한 발생최성기를 보인 후 7월 상순부터 8월 상순사이 기간에 발생이 거의 없었다가 9월 초중순에 뚜렷한 2차 발생최성기를 보였다. 복숭아꽃바구미는 매실 개화 전 꽃눈에서 발생하였고, 그 이후 4월~5월초에 우화 성충이 관찰되었다. Twenty-five species of pests had occurred at orchards of Japanese Apricot, Prunus mume Siebold & Zucc., in Hadong and Jinju (Gyeongsangnam-do province) from 2005 to 2007. Rhopalosiphum rufiabdominale (Sasaki), Singapora shinshana M., Tetranychus viennensis Zacher, and Synanthedon hector B. occurred as major pests and Anthonomus persicae sp. nov., Grapholita molesta (Busk), Spodoptera litura F., and Myzus persicae (Sulzer) as a sporadic pests. The population of S. shinshana had increased continuously during the season, from late April to late October. The population of T. viennensis occurred early May, reached the highest peak in late June to early July, and then declined with worsening consequences of nutritional conditions in the apricot leaves. A. persicae was observed to occur before breaking flower-bud of apricot and emerged adults were found in April to early May.
First Report of Feltiella acarisuga Vallot (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) in Korea

Feltiella acarisuga Vallot, a predatory gall midge preying upon spider mites, is reported for the first time in Korea. It was found in a greenhouse on Glycine soja Sieb. et Zucc. heavily infested with Tetranychus urticae in Sachon, Kyongnam Province. This species is very useful biological control agent for spider mites on greenhouse vegetable crops. Brief morphological characteristics are described. 점박이응애 밀도가 높은 돌콩에서 응애 포식천적인 Feltiella acarisuga Vallot(신칭; 응애 혹파리)가 국내에서 처음으로 발견되었다. 이 종의 형태적 특징 및 간략한 생태정보를 보고한다.
