In this paper, we present the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) application case study to investigate the regionally distinctive telco management characteristics of the Asia-Pacific countries. This study attempts to exploit the implications of DEA for the assessments of core process capabilities of telcos. Accordingly, we extract input variables of CAPEX (capital expenditure), operating expense, marketing expense, and number of employees, each to reflect the competitiveness of the core processes such as fixed asset utilization, operation & sales efficiency, and white collar productivity. In conjunction with the input variables, the output variables are chosen as EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization), ARPU (Average Revenue per User), and number of subscribers. The computational testing results, conducted with total 37 telcos of the 12 Asia-Pacific countries, are analyzed in various ways to understand the distinctive performance characteristics across the region. The managerial implication captured from this study provides useful insight for using DEA as the international telco management purpose.
Longitudinal and International Approach to assess 3PL firm's Efficiency using DEA

In this paper, we present the DEA application result, extending the analysis scope to longitudinal and international range, to assess 3PL firm’s efficiency. Total twenty-two 3PL firms, located in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, are chosen for the DEA analysis with following selection criteria such as, considerably large in scale to get listed on the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB) (2017), and have been listed in the Stock Market and Wall Street Journal for more than five years. The data are gathered from the consolidated financial report posted annually on company web sites from 2013 to 2017, which results in total 110 DMUs. The distinguishing feature of this study is that both the individual firm level longitudinal efficiency variations, and aggregated national level efficiency changes are examined altogether. The DEA computational results offer useful insight for firm level benchmarking and national level 3PL policy regulations development. The procedures and computational DEA results illustrated in this research could be further elaborated in this field.
DEA를 이용한 동남아시아 3PL 기업의 지역 특성을 고려한 운영 경쟁력 분석

In this paper, we present the result from a Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) case study investigating the regionally distinctive operational efficiencies of Third-Party Logistics (3PLs) providers in the Southeast Asia region. This study explored the effects of DEA on 3PLs baseline operational performance assessments. We first selected the input variables: capital expenditure (CAPEX), operational expense, and the number of employees, each of which can reflect the competitiveness of the core operational process, such as facility utilization, process efficiency, and labor productivity of 3PLs. Furthermore, the criteria for selecting output variables are to consolidate critical logistics performance such as operating income and revenue. The computation results were analyzed to understand the regional operational characteristic performance differences across the 11 Southeast Asia countries, from which a total of 117 3PL firms were selected. The results offer managerial implication useful for international business and collaboration management of Korean logistics industry firms. .
