Heavenly beings are the noblest ideal beings that man created out of his imagination. Imagination to oriental people is something like a dream. This dream enabled the people to enjoy eterval life, to be free from sicknes and suffering, to fly everywhere at their will and to become a creator of the universe. This very image of superman created the idea of heavenly being. There are two kinds of heavenly beings; one kind resides only in heaven, (from now it is called heavenly fairy); the other kind resedes on earth (this will be called earthly fairy). Heavenly fairlys is a spiritual biing which is above and beyond human reasoning. Earthly fairy is a kind of human being, only he enjoys all possible privileges of heavenly fairy while liveing on earth. Heavenly fairies feside in heaven, and earthly fairies reside in land and sea. Earthly fairies become heavenly fairies through death. Heavenly being are the embodiment of perfect virtue; they possess beauty, splendor, firmness and eternality. They also command the creating power. Features of heavenly world agree with those of beautiful nature and splendid palace. This is the result of analysis of the terms and phrases describing heavenly beings and heavenly world. The following are the conclusions of this study. There are two aspects in the concept of heavenly beings and heavenly world: one aspect reflects the subconscious asperation of mankind for worldly achiveements like power, wealth and happiness; the other aspect reflects the negative attitude toward those achivements. The former provides the imagery for lifterature of heavenly being; the latter for that of earthly being. The origni of the concept of heavenly being did not come only from Taoism. Leading a retired life in nature, which originated from Confucian creeds, also helped the concept of heavenly being to form and grow. This concept is one of the most important and basic features reflected in Shijo and Gasa, which occupies the main position in the literature of nature.

The goal of this wok is to ascertain the possibility of the quantitative method to research korean phonology. There are many ways to make linguistic study. Various works has been developed, and this works has offered new vision on phonology. Quantitative method, the statistical way of linguistic research, has been a important part of linguistics with the advance of computer technology. In this paper, we reviewed the works of quantitative linguisty and found out some weak points. Many studies used the frequency of Korean graphemes and phonemes. However, more fine methodology is necessary to get reliable conclusions. We need the frequency of phonological units from Spohen language corpora, and this statistical informations give the useful keys to linguistic and technological research.

1. Korean commoner's novels began with appearance of Hanguel (Korean language) novels since Imjin war by Japanese in 1592. 2. The writers of commoner's Hanguel novels belonged to the intellectual class of commoner, who were chiefly associate noblemen such as Jungins(中人), Sewols(庶??), and Seoris(胥吏) who were engaged in the lowest offices of a town. 3. The structure of consciousness of the writers was made as follows: Firstly, it made under poverty and shortage they had to bear fatefully through life because of class distinctions. Secondly it was also made while envying and admiring noblemen's ideallife. 4. In these circumstances sensual actibityies are expected to have been made in two parts. One was the activity of forgetting and overcoming Pain which shortage and suppression had brought. The other was pursuit actibity to fill up shortage with contents. 5. The former was made into more conscious and positive humer senses and the latter into unlimited, obstinate pursuit senses which were latent in the depts of senses. 6. Especially, in this paper, I explained unlimited, obstinate commmoner's senses in relation to stylistics of commoner's novels. 7. One of the characteristics we can find in commoner's Hanguel novels is unreality or illogic. In other words, we can find many descriptions of characters of objects which ignore and surpass actuality and rationality. 8. The very stylistic characteristics of unreal and illogic description is derived from obstinate senses of commoner's unlimited desire in modern times.
