New antibacterial polyurethane foams for car seat with Urushiol extracted from a natural lacquer were prepared. Influences of antibacterial agent concentration on the reactivity with isocyanate and the mechanical properties of foams were investigated. It was observed that the urethane formation reaction was delayed a little when the amount of Urushiol was increased. However, the foams made using Urushiol showed on a level with the neat polyurethane foam. In terms of antibacterial property, the foams prepared with Urushiol showed their properties on a higher level with the neat polyurethane foam.

Polylactic acid or polylactide (PLA) is a biodegradable, thermoplastic, aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch or sugarcanes. Although PLA has been known for more than a century, it has only been of commercial interest in recent years. They have been used as biomedical materials for tissue regeneration, matrices for drug delivery systems, and alternatives for commercial polymeric materials. However, there is one of the drawbacks of PLA, which is the low melting temperature property and it is expected that stereocomplexation would be a solution to overcome this. Stereocomplexation enhances the mechanical properties, the thermal-resistance, and the hydrolysis-resistance of PLAbased materials. These improvements arise from a peculiarly strong interaction between L-lactyl unit sequences and D-lactyl unit sequences, and stereocomplexation would open a new way for the application of PLA for interior, exterior materials for automotive.

New PTT(trimethylene terephthalate) non-wovwn suede is manufactured via the combination of an advanced spinning process (producing very low denier bi-component "islands in the sea" fibre) and chemical and textile production processes (needle punching, buffing, impregnation, extraction, finishing, dyeing, etc.) which interact with each other. The appearance and tactile feel of the material is similar to that of suede. It is expected that this material's application would be widened in seating as well as dash trimming due to its hard-wearing yet and luxurious-looking properties.
