        It is important to assess and popularize widely Active Safety System like Rear Cross Traffic Alert, etc. that minimize or previously prevent itself the accident of minor collision with the vehicle crossing during on reversing in the parking lot and required to establish performance test method and evaluation criteria for implementation as a test and assessment procedure of area of accident prevention safety assessment in accordance with KNCAP’s Road Map. But internationally there was no reference materials worthy of referring to test protocol as like International Standard Organization(ISO) and overseas NCAP, and so on. Therefore, it was required its own development. Then it was conducted to analyse rear crossing-accident status in domestic parking lot and the effect of Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and to develop evaluation methods and evaluation criteria by carrying out field operational tests for vehicles fitted with RCTA. Finally, the performance evaluation test method and evaluation criteria for Rear Cross Traffic Alert to be enforced in 2017 was established.

        Recently, a traffic accident caused by overspeed in a highway occupied the highest proportion, and it is known that mortality rate due to overspeed is the highest a traffic accident in Korea. So that, Korea government(ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport) is planning to include a speed limitation Device’s performance evaluation item in the new car assessment program(NCAP) from the year 2017 in order to prevent accidents by encouraging to install the device. Thesedays, a type of the speed limitation device is diversified because the Advanced Driver Assistance System(ADAS) that prevent a traffic accident caused by the driver’s careless is more interested. However, there is no any test protocol that evaluate the performance and key features for each type of the diversified device in Korea. Therefore, in order to develop the test protocol for each type for the diversified speed limitation device, the draft test protocol and criteria is developed by analyzing the technology trends of the device and comparing the domestic or foreign standard in the paper. And then, a suitability of the draft protocol is determined by testing the real vehicle with of the draft test protocol and criteria and investigating Korea’s traffic regulatory framework for example speed limit etc Finally, the performance evaluation test method and evaluation criteria for the adjustable speed limitation device and intelligent speed assistance to be forced in 2017 was established.
