This paper describes the analysis results of channel characteristics in the operating area of satellite OTM (On-The-Move) terminal. The communication channel between the Koreasat-5 and OTM terminal on a test car was measured and recorded in downtown of Daejeon, using the received beacon signal of around 20 GHz. And the measurement data were statistically analyzed and then compared with highway and national road environments. The statistical evaluation of satellite channel was conducted by using probability density function and Markov model and then presented average connection duration(ACD), average fade duration(AFD), and level crossing rate(LCR) of downtown environment.

The space radiation/total ionizing Dose(TID) and its effects, and the GEO satellite system design considerations in space radiation environment are studied in this paper using Spenvis(Space Environment Information System). The GEO satellite system in space environment is simulated by NASA AP8/AE8, JPL91 and NRL CREME models, repectively for trapped particle, solar proton and cosmic-ray. The total ionizing Dose which is accumulated continuously to spacecraft electronics has been expressed as the function of aluminum thickness. These values can be used as the criteria for the selection of electronic parts and shielding thickness of the Digital Channel Amplifier(DCAMP) structure.

OTM(On-The-Move) 위성통신 시스템은 차량에 탑재되어 고속 주행하거나 요동이 심한 지역을 주행하면서 위성 통신링크를 안정적으로 유지하여야 한다. 따라서 열악한 환경에서도 정밀 추적이 가능하고, 차량에 탑재할 수 있도록 소형/경량화된 위성 추적 시스템이 필요하다. 2개의 슬롯(slot)으로 구성된 단일 모드 커플러를 사용하여, 원형 편파 특성을 이용하여 하나의 물리적 채널로 상하, 좌우 2개의 차신호를 동시에 비콘 수신기까지 전달하는 방안을 제안하고, 측정된 추적오차신호를 제시한다. The main mission of OTM(On-The-Move) satellite communication system is to provide satellite communication service while moving on a vehicle. So it should have a capability to maintain a reliable communication channel when it travels at high speeds or in a severe fluctuation region. This paper presents a small-sized multi-mode monopulse structure applicable to OTM satellite communication system which has only single mode-coupler with a pair of slot using a feature of circular polarized received signal. And tracking error signal is defined using fundamental and high-order modes.

본 논문은 OTM(On-The-Move: 이동형) 위성단말을 위해 통신 지역에서 지형/지물에 의해 발생될 수 있는 위성신호의 음영 지역을 분석하는 방법을 제시하였다. 지형/지물 정보를 포함하는 3D map을 HTZ warfare M&S(Modeling & Simulation) 도구를 이용하여 수신 신호의 프로파일을 얻고, 이를 Markov 모델을 이용하여 통계적으로 분석하였다. M&S 데이터의 분석 결과는 대전 도심을 실 주행시험을 통해 확보한 수신 프로파일과 비교하였다. 비교 분석 결과, 수신 프로파일은 약 74.8 %의 일치를 보였으며, 가로수 영향 배제시 수신 프로파일의 통계적 분석 결과 또한 유사함을 보였다. This paper proposed the M&S(Modeling & Simulation) method of channel characterization of satellite communication in the operating area of satellite OTM(On-The-Move) terminal. In M&S, received signal profile was acquired by HTZ warfare software which uses 3 dimensional map including building, road information and geographical features, and then was analyzed statistically. And a received signal profile and its statistics from M&S data were compared with those from measured data. The research showed that the simulated received signal profile matched the measured one about 74.8 percent and simulated statistics matched well as roadside trees were excluded.

본 논문은 위성통신 시스템에서 OTM(On-The-Move: 이동형) 위성단말이 운용되는 지역의 채널 특성을 분석한 결과를 다룬다. 무궁화 5호 위성의 20 GHz 대역 수신 신호를 이용하여 대전~대천까지 실 주행시험을 수행하였고, 측정 결과를 고속도로 환경과 국도 환경 두 부분으로 구분하여 통계적 분석을 수행하였다. 통계적 분석에는 확률밀도 함수와 Markov 모델을 이용하여 위성 채널의 특성을 분석하였고, 더불어 국도 환경과 고속도로 환경에서 수신 전력의 임계값 설정에 따른 ACD(Average Connection Duration), AFD(Average Fade Duration), LCR(Level Crossing Rate)을 각각 제시하고, 서로 비교하였다. Finally the statistics data of the two environments are compared with each other.

In this paper, a high-gain antenna for satellite communication is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of septum polarizer, circular waveguide, Hat-feed structure that has a high-gain and efficiency. Especially, it is smaller and lighter than the conventional satellite communication antennas by applying a hat-feed structure. The measured results show that received gain of proposed antenna is better than 29.9 dBi and transmitted gain of proposed antenna is better than 30.5 dBi. The co-polarized and cross-polarized radiation patterns comply with ITU-RR Ap.8 and ITU-R S.731-1 that are recommended by International Telecommunication Union. The designed high-gain antenna for satellite communication is expected to be used for OTM and airborne satellite systems.
