In this study, a modeling method of power-assisted steering systems for vehicle dynamic analysis is presented. Pressure-flow relations of flow control valve is derived, and the equations of motion of a steering gear is obtained. Combining pressure-flow relations and equations of motion. the steering force can be represented as a function of steering wheel angle or torque. For complete representation a steering system, a steering linkage of a truck is modeled based on the multi body method.

A computer program for design and analysis of vehicle suspension systems based on kinematic design sensitivity is devcloped. Suspension systems are modeled using composite joints to reduce the number of the constraint cquations. By directly differentiating the equations with respect to generalized coordinates and design variables, sensitivity equations are obtained. Symbolic computation technique is adopted to compute derivatives with respect to design variables. This program is to be run on Windows95 and used GUI(Graphic user Interface)for easy optimal design using sensitivity analysis.<br/>

In this study, ride sensitivity analysis of a train with non-linear suspension elements are performed. Non-linear characteristics of springs and dampers for primary and secondary suspensions of a train is parameterized. Equation of motion of the train model is derived, and using the direct differentiation method. sensitivity equations are obtained. For a nominal ride quality performance index, sensitivity analysis with respect to various design parameters regarding non-linear suspension parameters are carried out.<br/>

A vehicle dynamic analysis program AutoDyn7 (Automobile Dynamics in G7) is developed during the G7 project with respect to "development of integrated software for the chassis system design and analysis"<br/> In this paper, computer simulations of the selected vehicle maneuver are performed using AutoDyn7 S/W. Simulation results are compared with the results of driving tests with experimental handling vehicle for validation and evaluation of the developed S/W AutoDyn7. It is expected that the vehicle dynamic analysis program AutoDyn7 is effectively applicable to design and analysis the chassis system in the early design stage of vehicle development.<br/>

Pressure-flow relations of flow control valve is derived, and the equations of motion of a steering gear is obtained. Combining pressure-flow relations and equations of motion, the steering force can be represented as a function of steering wheel angle or torque. Driver model was modeled based on a PID controller and forward target method. With the steering systems and driver model, various driving tests are conducted using AUTODYN7.<br/>
