Reflux esophagitis (RE) is a gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) caused by repeated reflux of gastric acid into the esophagus. The present study investigated the protective effect of natural mineral water on esophageal injury induced by gastric acid reflux. The cytotoxicity of mineral water was confirmed using Cell viability, proliferation and cytotoxicity assay kit. The protective effect of mineral water on esophageal injury was investigated in RE rat model. The results showed that no cytotoxicity of mineral water was observed in RAW264.7 cells. Mineral water decreased the ratio of esophageal damage, inhibited the increase of inflammatory- protein expression levels and increased the mucosa protection and tight junction proteins expression level in RE control rat. The results suggest that mineral water may have the potential to protect esophageal damage caused by gastric acid reflux and the potential to alleviate reflux esophagitis.
증숙 오미자의 항산화, 항염증 및 간보호 효과 비교 연구

Objectives: We investigated differances of physiological functionalities in the steamed Schisandrae Fructus. Methods : The samples were extracts of dryed schisandrae fructus without steaming process (S0), extracts of schisandrae fructus with three times steamed (S3), extracts of schisandrae fructus with five times steamed (S5) and extracts of schisandrae fructus with seven times steamed (S7). We analyzed contents of schisandrin, gomisin, total polyphenol and flavonoid and antioxidant activities. We researched antiinflammation effects for Raw264.7 cells. To evaluate liver protective activity, we measured AST, ALT and gamma-GTP in serum of alcoholic mice. Results: As the steaming number of schisandrae fructus increase, the contents of schisandrin and gomisin were more increased. The contents of total polyphenol of S5 and S7 were significantly increased compared to that of S0. DPPH free radical scavenging activities of S5 and S7 were significantly increased compared to that of S0, ABST radical scavenging activities of S3 and S5 were significantly increased compared to that of S0 in vitro. The NO production of all sample was significantly decreased compared to control, PGE2 release of S3, S5 and S7 were significantly decreased compared to control. IL-1β release of S5 and S7 were significantly decreased. AST, ALT and gamma-GTP of S3, S5 and S7 were significantly decreased compared to control. Conclusions: We think that extracts of schisandrae fructus with steaming process may have more potential efficacy than a schisandrae fructus without steaming process.
NaCl 처리가 눈개승마[Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus (Maxim.) H. Hara]의 생육과 생리활성에 미치는 영향

본 논문은 염(NaCl) 처리 시 눈개승마의 생육과 생리활성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 0, 100, 200, 300 mM의 농도로 염 처리를 하였다. 처리 30일 후 초장, 엽폭, 엽장 및 무기 이온 함량을 측정하여 생육에 미치는 영향을 조사하였고 생리활성에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 항산화 활성 및 염증 생성 물질인 NO 생산량을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 염 처리 시 대조구에 비하여 생육 저하되었으며 염 농도 100, 200, 300 mM 처리구 간의 차이는 뚜렷하게 나타나지 않았다. 무기이온 함량은 염 처리시 $Na^+$의 함량은 증가하였고 $K^+$의 함량은 감소하였으며 $Ca^{2+}$ 함량은 염 처리 시 대조구에 비해 증가하였고 $Mg^{2+}$ 함량에서는 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 100 mM 이상의 농도에서는 $Na^+$ 함량이 현저하게 증가됨에 따라 식물 생장에 불리한 $K^+/Na^+$, $Ca^{2+}/Na^+$, $Mg^{2+}/Na^+$ 비를 초래하였다. 총 폴리페놀 함량과 플라보노이드 함량은 100 mM 이상의 염 농도에서 모두 감소하였으며 염 농도가 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다. DPPH, ABTS radical 소거활성 및 환원력에서도 대조구에 비해 염 처리농도가 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 염 처리 시 눈개승마의 마우스 대식세포 Raw 264.7 cell에서의 세포독성 및 항염증 활성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 CCK assay와 염증 생성 물질인 NO 생산량을 측정한 결과, 염 처리구에서 모두 100% 이상의 생존율을 보여 세포독성이 없음을 확인하였다. 또한, NO 생산량의 경우 항산화 활성의 경향과 마찬가지로 대조구에 비해 100 mM 이상의 염 처리구에서 NO 생산 억제 활성이 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 따라서, 염 처리시 100 mM 이상의 농도에서 눈개승마의 생육과 항산화, 항염증 활성이 저하됨을 확인하였으며, 이는 염 스트레스로 인해 생장과 생리활성 저하를 유발된 것으로 생각된다. 따라서, 눈개승마의 경우 100 mM 미만의 농도에서 생육 및 생리활성 유지에 적합한 조건을 확립하기 위한 추가 연구가 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료된다. This study was conducted to investigate the growth and physiologycal activitis of Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus (Maxim.) H. Hara under the NaCl treatment conditions (0, 100, 200, 300 mM). After 30 days treatment, the growth and physiologycal activitis were investigated. In the growth of plants, the plant height, leaf width, leaf length and ion level were reduced at NaCl treatments of more than 100 mM. The total polyphenol content was decreased by NaCl in a concentration-dependent manner compared to the control group. The contents of total flavonoids did not show any difference at the concentration of 200 mM and 300 mM. However, the content of total flavonoid decreased compared with that of control. In antioxidant activity, the DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity and reducing power activity were decreased by NaCl concentration compared to the control. When changes in the content of NO production was monitored by ELISA, production inhibitory effect was 94.5%, 70%, 63%, 56.9% in NaCl concentration of 0, 100, 200, 300 mM, respectively. The growth, ion level, antioxidant and anti-inflammation activity of Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus was reduced at NaCl treatments of more than 100 mM.
"동의보감(東醫寶鑑)"."의학입문(醫學入門)"에 나타난 증제법(蒸製法) 운용에 관한 문헌적 고찰

Objectives : provides the basis on steaming processing method (SPM) which was stated in 'Dongeuibogam' and 'Euihakipmun'. Methods : Drugs and prescriptions listed in 'Dongeuibogam' and 'Euihakipmun' were investigated by following criteria; (i) name and prescription of SPM-applied drugs, (ii) protocols on the use of the supporting materials, (iii) kind of supporting materials, (iv) processing period, (v) part of the herb plants, (vi) efficacy of herbal drugs, (vii) tastes of herbal drugs, (viii) meridian tropism of the herbal drugs. Results : 1. The number of herbs was 92 species of from 'Dongeuibogam', 87 from 'Euihakipmun', and the number of prescriptions was 197 from 'Dongeuibogam' and 119 from 'Euihakipmun'. 2. Infiltrating steaming and mixing and steaming procedures were used to process supporting materials. 3. The abundance of supporting materials was in the order of alcohol and ginger juice. 4. A twelve hour-period was most frequently used. 5. The herbal parts used most were in the order of fruit, seed, roots, and stem. 6. According to an efficacy category, a drug supplementing invigoration was used most frequently and a drug eliminating heat followed next. 7. Based on four spirit features, herbs showing warm, cold, and mild features were used most. 8. In considering five tastes, herbs showing sweet and bitter tastes were used most. 9. The herbs supporting the function of liver, kidneys, spleen, stomach, and lung were used in SPM. The herbs converging to the kidneys and the liver were conducted most in 'Dongeuibogam' and 'Euihakipmun' respectively. No case for herbal drug converging to 'Samcho' was reported. Conclusions : Our investigation on the use of SPM from 'Dongeuibogam' and 'Euihakipmun' revealed that there are special principles underlying the use of supporting materials, SPM period, parts and efficacy.
