This study was conduced to seek the effective water management method of the irrigation reservoirs. Joongpyong reservoir was selected for the hydrologic monitoring, and investigated from May in 1999 to 2001. The water level and amount of outlet discharge were measured, the stage discharge equation as rating curve was induced, and which were compared to the irrigation water requirements calculated by a daily simulation model. The water balance of Joongpyong reservoir was analyzed, mainly on the reservoir storage ratio during irrigation period. Comparing the observed storage and simulation data, the results of the simulation were agreed with the measured data.

This study was carried out to investigate of water quality and irrigation water use possibility of reservoirs near Saemangeum for upland and horticultural fields. Water samples were taken at 6 reservoirs for 5 months from June, 2006 to November, 2006. The water temperature, pH, EC, EC, chlorophyll - a of 6 reservoirs were ranged 8.7-$31.2^circC$, 6.9-9.2, 73.0-637.0$\mu$S/cm, 0.9-443.2mg/$m^3$, respectively. The concentration of DO, BOD, COD, T-N, T-P and SS were ranged 5.7-11.7mg/L, 0.5-8.9mg/L, 2.9-18.0mg/L, 0.07-6.52mg/L, 0.002-0.406mg/L, 0.5-54.0mg/L Also, storage ratio and storage capacity of Mije reservoir, Okgu reservoir, Oknyeo reservoir, Neungje reservoir were decreased between June and April, but those of Oksan reservoir was kept high during irrigation period. Water supply of reservoirs was 4,474,100$m^3$(Oksan), 6,165,900$m^3$(Mije), 13,209,900$m^3$(Okgu), 4,675,600$m^3$(Oknyeo), 7,682,000$m^3$(Neungje), 19,231,000$m^3$(Cheongho) in 2006, respectively. It is resevoirs for upland and horticultural fields that use main irrigation water resources before Saemanguem fresh-water lake development, and use assistance irrigation water resources in emergency after Saemanguem fresh-water lake development. In the meantime, for continuous use of reservoir as irrigation water resource for upland and horticultural fields, we must examine about surplus water capacity, and need investigation about supply possibility of irrigation water, condition of irrigation water, water quality.

This study was carried out to provide the basic information for the water quality management of the Sumjin River Basin. The Chooryeongchon stream watershed was selected and the parameters representing water were investigated from May 1999 to September 2002, periodically. Yearly mean runoff ratio to the rainfall amount of the watershed was analysed as 26.6~58.8%. Temporal variation of water quality constituents such as water temperature, pH, EC, total nitrogen, total phosphorus were analysed. The result showed that pH ranged 5.7~7.7, EC 54~167 μS/cm, COD 0.8~18.1mg/L, respectively. Total-N and total-P concentration ranged from 0.89 to 5.19 mg/L and from 0.0004 to 0.030 mg/L, respectively. The relationships between runoff and mass load were derived and showed high linear relationships.

It is the purpose of this study to investigate the change of stream water quality in upper stream of Dongjin river, and to give the basic information for the conservation of water quality. Water samples were taken periodically at 9 sampling sited during 8 months from March to October in 2002. 1. The water temperature and pH stream water were ranged 9.0~29.4℃, 6.48~9.33, respectively. The COD values of stream water was ranged from 0.60 to 19.06. The contents of T-N and T-P mainly affected by the livestock wastes, and agricultural activity were 1.88~6.74 mg/L, ND(not detcted)~0.50 mg/L, respectively. 2. The SS, DO and BOD values of stream water were ranged 0.4mg/L~274.0mg/L, 0.5~6.0 mg/L, and 7.3~13.7mg/L respectively. 3. The cation is one of the important components in analysis of stream water qauality. The contents of analysis, Ca^(++), Mg^(++),Na^(++), and K^(+) were ranged 1.96~11.08mg/L, 1.21~6.16 mg/L, 3.38~18.44 mg/L, 1.12~7.96 mg/L, respectively. SAR was ranged 0.31~1.63 below 2.0. The contents of cation showed in the order Na ^(++), >Ca^(++), >K^(+) > Mg^(+). 4. The contents of heavy metal Zn, Cu, and Pb were ND~0.071 mg/L, ND~0.012 mg/L, and ND~0.043 mg/L, respectively. Cd was not detected in all samples. 5. As a result of these researches showed water quality in upper stream watershed of Dongjin river more affected by livestock wastes and living sewage than agricultural activity.
