This study intends to reinvestigate the process of architectural evolution on the basis of architectural Metabolism, once explored in 1960’, s to discuss the philosophical speculation of Kisho Kuroka and Arata Isozaki on the basis of structuralism, and to examine how the ’Physics of Foam' devised by Denis Weaire and Robert Phelan is related with the Metabolists' approaches with regard to structuralism. Then, the study explores the so called Weaire-Phelan structure, attempts to analogize the natural water - foam - image to design a mega-structure, and finally review the applicability of the structural, spatial, and environmental technology of the structure.
현대건축에서의 메타모포시스(Metamorphosis) 개념의 적용에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is the proposal of possibility of new design that applied system of metamorphosis. The new aspect of recent architecture is the tendency of embodiment of generation and evolution. The architectural application of ecological form appeared in architectural history already. It is introduced not only ecological form but organic features like system of organism and activeness. And It is applied process of generation and evolution to a design through developed technology. This study is analysis contemporary architectural design that applied various ecological form and system of metamorphosis.
