인문,사회과학편 : 새로운 직업영역으로서의 성장가능성: 전문직업인으로서 전문캐디의 삶 조망

본 연구는 전문직업인으로서 전문캐디의 삶을 조망하고자 질적 연구방법을 채택하여 그들의 직업선택 동기와 실현과정, 전문캐디로서의 현실적 고충과 당면 문제 그리고 새로운 직업으로서 전문캐디의 직업적 성장 가능성을 고찰하였다. 이를 위해, 본 연구에서는 전문캐디 경험자 7명을 연구참여자로 선정하여 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 본연구는 전문캐디들의 직업적 삶을 크게 네 가지 관점의 맥락으로 귀결할 수 있었다. 첫째, 전문캐디들은 프로선수들의조력자이자 멘토 그리고 동반자로서 자신들의 정체성을 인지하고 있었으며, 주변인들의 편견과 왜곡된 시선에 저항하는 면을 확인해 볼 수 있었다. 둘째, 선수와 전문캐디의 관계의 형성은 가족 또는 친구(선·후배)라는 관계망으로부터시작되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 전문캐디들이 경험하는 가장 현실적인 문제와 고충으로 낮은 수입에 따른 경제적 어려움과 그에 따른 투잡(two jobs)은 당연한 사실로 귀결되고 있었으며, 나아가 불규칙한 근무여건으로 인한 가족과의 갈등도 내재된 현실임을 확인할 수 있었다. 넷째, 전문직으로서 전문캐디의 직업적 성장 가능성을 위한 당면 과제는 그들의 생계가 일정 수준 보장될 수 있는 환경과 여건이 선행되어야 함을 본 연구는 제시해 주고 있다. This article examined professional caddies’ motive for profession choice, realistic distresses, and immediate problems in theirlife of job as well as the potential for job growth of a professional caddie as a new sport job by adopting a qualitative researchmethod in order to explore the life of professional caddies as a professional. In this study, in-depth interviews with sevenprofessional caddies were conducted in order to explore their life of profession. The study identifies the life of professionalcaddies in a context of the following four perspectives. First, it was found that they identify themselves as an assistant, mentorand/or companion, and resist others’ distorted attention and prejudice. Second, it was identified that the relationships betweenprofessional golfers and caddies are generally originated and developed from a human network of family or friend (theirsenior or junior). Third, it was discovered that the most realistic problem and distress confronted in their life of professionwere economic difficulties and an inherent conflict in family life. Fourth, the challenge for the potential of professional caddies’job growth is to create social environment in which their financial condition is guaranteed at a certain level.
