Waste moving simulator is designed and manufactured to investigate the flow characteristics of waste inside a circular duct. The simulator consists of an air intake, a waste chute, straight and bended pipes, waste collector, turbo blower, and so on. The flow characteristics inside a circular pipe have been performed by experimental measurements and three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis. Throughout the numerical and experimental studies, pressure drop obtained by experiments in the circular pipe has a good agreement with that of numerical simulation. Unsteady behavior of the waste in the pipe is also analyzed by transient calculation. It is found that the period of injection time of a waste is very effective to determine the pressure loss in the waste moving simulator.
