Various joining methods were studied to choose a suitable<br/> method of joining aluminum alloy sheets for autobody, In this<br/> study, aluminum alloy sheets were joined by several methods such as resistance spot welding, laser welding mechanical<br/> clinching and ultrasonic welding. It was found that the shear<br/> tension force at the fracture was highest in the case of laser welded specimen. The mechnical clinching was found to be the<br/> most economic process and a powerful tool for joining different<br/> materials (for example, aluminum and steel) over other<br/> methods. Laser and resistance spot weldings were superior in the<br/> proditivity point of view. Therefore, the combined application of several joining methods seems to be a effective way of joining aluminum alloy body-parts than that of a single method.<br/>
