A closed crankcase ventilation (CCV) system has been adopted to engines to reduce blow-by gas emission. In the CCV system, blow by gas which contains engine lubricant oil is circulated to intake system. The system has a problem on blow-out of engine lubricant oil. To reduce loss of the engine oil, high efficiency oil separation devices are required. Principle of cyclone oil separator is centrifugal force in the separator, and oil separator designs influence on rotational flow which causes the centrifugal force. In this paper, oil separation performances for cyclone type designs are calculated with CFD methodology. The major design parameters considered in the analysis model are inlet area, cone length, and outlet depth of the oil separator. From the numerical analysis results, reducing inlet area and increasing cone length seem to increase oil separation performance. Changes in outlet depth could avoid interference between rotational flow and outlet flow in the cyclone oil separator.
