The shock absorber is an important automotive part, which affect the comfort and the stability of the vehicle. In this paper, a physical model is developed to accuont for the nonlinear behavior of the auto-motive shock absorber. The quarter and half car models are constructed with the commercial GUI(Graphic User Interface) package. Instead of using a simple damper model with a damping coefficient, a shock absorber model which considers the compressibility of the oil and the variable gas phase in the shape of the bubbles, is linked with the vehicle model.<br/> Under the several driving conditions such as ride and steering motion, the internal architecture(valve parameters and hysterisis effects) of the damper and the vehicle motion are identified. This program can be applied to the design and the analysis of the various automotive shock absorber which affects the vehicle dynamics.
