잉어봄바이러스(SVCV) 검출 민감도 및 세포 감염 한계 분석

Spring viraemia of carp (SVC) is a highly infectious virus that infects fish and is associated with a high mortality rate. SVC is listed as a notifiable viral disease by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and is a legal communicable disease (class-1) requiring stamping out in Korea. SVC-PCR positive of crucian carp was confirmed in a Chungcheongbuk-do aquaculture farm but CPE was not observed, and no mortality occurred. Further, we compared and analyzed the detection of qPCR and RT-PCR. SVC quantification was analyzed in the epidemiological investigation sample of the aquaculture farm. SVCV was detected above the concentration of infection limit of EPC cells. It is expected that SVCV was inactivated in crucian carp due to the increase in water temperature. These results may contribute to basic data for epidemiological studies.

Viral hemorrhagic septicemia (VHS) is a serious viral disease that infects the olive flounder in South Korea. The Korean aquaculture industry experienced an economic loss caused by the high infectivity and mortality. Wastewater is a factor in transferring infections to wild and cultured fish in waters near infected aquaculture farms. In this study, we analyzed the stability of the VHS virus in sterilized seawater depending on the water temperature. The VHS virus maintained infectivity for 8 days and was detected using quantitative polymerase chain reaction after 10 days of inoculation to sterilized seawater at low temperatures. On the other hand, at high temperatures, the virus maintained infectivity for 4 days and was detected for 7 days. These results may contribute to basic data for epidemiological studies.

한국은 세계에서 가장 낮은 출산율과 가장 빠른 고령화를 겪고 있다. 고령화 현상의 해결책인 정년연장은 외국의 사례를 살펴보았을 때, 우리나라도 통계적인 분석을 통해 심도 있게 논의가 필요하다. 그러나 우리나라의 장래인구추계에서 예측하는 기대수명이나 사망률, 출생률 자체에 대한 예측 및 자료의 신뢰성에 대한 문제 지적되고 있다. 따라서 이를 고려하여 센서스와 장래인구추계법의 개선이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라의 센서스 방법에 대한 대안을 알아보기 위해 외국의 센서스 사례 및 우리나라의 센서스 방법을 탐색하고 장래인구추계의 각 요인인 출생, 사망, 국제이동에 대한 이론적 비판 및 외국의 사례비교하도록 하였다. Korea is suffering from the world fastest aging and the lowest birthrate. Considering the resolution of other country`s aging, Extension of the Retirement Age have to be considered with statistical analysis. However the improvement of census system is more urgent before considering the resolution of age. Because Korean census system has problems related lack of data reliability and incorrect estimation of death-rate, birthrate, international population movement. In order to analyze Korean census system, we have compared with other country`s census system and analyzed the factors of census which are death-rate, birthrate, international population movement. At the conclusion, we have suggested our resolution of Korean census system.
수온에 따른 참돔이리도바이러스(RSIV)의 감수성 품종에 대한 병원성 분석

Red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) causes serious economic losses in Korea by causing mass mortality in rock bream fish during the season of high water temperatures (25~30℃). More than 30 additional species of cultured marine fish are listed as susceptible. Among them are major aquaculture species, including rock bream, red sea bream, black porgy, rockfish, and olive flounder. In this study, the effect of water temperature on the pathogenicity of RSIV in these fish species was investigated. RSIV was found to be pathogenic to rock bream at high temperatures (28℃) but not at low temperatures (18℃). In the histopathological investigation of the RSIV-infected rock bream at 18℃, only lymphocyte infiltration was seen, however after 14 days of infection at 28℃, development of inclusion body-bearing cells was observed. However, neither low nor high water temperatures showed RSIV genome copies, high cumulative mortality, or inclusion body-bearing cells in RSIV-infected black porgy, rockfish, or olive flounder. These results may contribute to selective quarantine measures based on pathogenicity and water temperature distinctions.

Background/Aims: Steroid therapy is reported to improve the clinical outcome of IgA nephropathy. In addition, recent studies have revealed that deflazacort has fewer side effects than prednisolone. This study examined the effect of steroids and compared the clinical efficacy of deflazacort and prednisolone in patients with IgA nephropathy. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 136 patients with biopsy-proven IgA nephropathy who received deflazacort (n=50), prednisolone (n=29), or neither (n=59), and in whom blood pressure was controlled with angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers. The mean duration of steroid administration was 9.5±9.1 months. The initial clinical status and change in the amount of protein in the 24-hour urine were compared among the three groups. Results: The baseline characteristics (age, blood pressure, serum creatinine level, initial protein in the 24-hour urine, and creatinine clearance) did not differ significantly among the groups. The decrement of protein in the 24-hour urine was higher in the deflazacort and prednisolone groups, as compared with the control group (4.4±5.4, 4.2±1.5, and 2.1±3.1 g/day, respectively, p=0.013). The increment in the creatinine clearance was higher in the deflazacort and prednisolone groups, as compared with the control group (11.5±16.4, 12.3±26.2, and 4.8±14.91.3±0.9, respectively, p=0.009). There were no significant differences in the above parameters between the deflazacort and prednisolone groups. Conclusions: Steroid therapy reduces urinary protein excretion in IgA nephropathy, and the clinical efficacy of deflazacort and prednisolone was found to be similar. (Korean J Med 77:593-600, 2009)

In contemporary society, individuals contend with the challenge of limited leisure time amidst rapid economic development and labor market expansion. The concept of the third place has emerged as a crucial solution, providing a haven for relaxation, nurturing communication, and revitalizing local communities. In particular, corporations are making efforts to promote social interaction by providing complex cultural spaces that incorporate cultural activities. Thus this study aims to investigate complex cultural spaces, serving as the modern third place, dissecting their characteristics and participatory activities. To achieve this goal, a case study methodology was employed. First, a literature review was conducted to analyze the concept and spatial functionalities of the third place. Second, an analysis of prior research on complex cultural spaces was executed, identifying fundamental elements. Third, building upon existing literature, a comprehensive framework for evaluating participatory complex cultural spaces was devised. Fourth, through in-depth case studies of corporate participatory complex cultural spaces, guided by the proposed analytical framework, conclusions were drawn. This study provides valuable insights into the design and impact of complex cultural spaces, making a substantial contribution to the realm of research on participatory complex cultural spaces and spatial planning development.
