임베디드 병렬 프로세서를 위한 픽셀 서브워드 병렬처리 명령어 구현

프로세서 기술은 공정비용의 증가와 전력 소모 때문에 단순 동작 주파수를 높이는 방법이 아닌 다수의 프로세서를 집적하는 병렬 프로세싱 기술 발전이 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어에 내재한 무수한 데이터를 효과적으로 처리할 수 있는 SIMD(Single Instruction Multiple Data) 기반 병렬 프로세서를 소개하고, 또한 이러한 SIMD 기반 병렬 프로세서 아키텍처에서 이미지/비디오 픽셀을 효율적으로 처리 가능한 픽셀 서브워드 병렬처리 명령어를 제안한다. 제안하는 픽셀 서브워드 병렬처리 명령어는 48비트 데이터패스 아키텍처에서 4개의 12비트로 분할된 레지스터에 4개의 8비트 픽셀을 저장하고 동시에 처리함으로써 기존의 멀티미디어 전용 명령어에서 발생하는 오버플로우 및 이를 해결하기 위해 사용되는 패킹/언팽킹 수행의 상당한 오버헤드를 줄일 수 있다. 동일한 SIMD 기반 병렬 프로세서 아키텍처에서 모의 실험한 결과, 제안한 픽셀 서브워드 병렬처리 명령어는 baseline 프로그램보다 2.3배의 성능 향상을 보인 반면, 인텔사의 대표적인 멀티미디어 전용 명령어인 MMX 타입 명령어는 baseline 프로그램보다 단지 1.4배의 성능 향상을 보였다. 또한, 제안한 명령어는 baseline 프로그램보다 2.5배의 에너지 효율 향상을 보인 반면, MMX 타입 명령어는 baseline 프로그램보다 단지 1.8배의 에너지 효율 향상을 보였다. Processor technology is currently continued to parallel processing techniques, not by only increasing clock frequency of a single processor due to the high technology cost and power consumption. In this paper, a SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data) based parallel processor is introduced that efficiently processes massive data inherent in multimedia. In addition, this paper proposes pixel subword parallel processing instructions for the SIMD parallel processor architecture that efficiently operate on the image and video pixels. The proposed pixel subword parallel processing instructions store and process four 8-bit pixels on the partitioned four 12-bit registers in a 48-bit datapath architecture. This solves the overflow problem inherent in existing multimedia extensions and reduces the use of many packing/unpacking instructions. Experimental results using the same SIMD-based parallel processor architecture indicate that the proposed pixel subword parallel processing instructions achieve a speedup of $2.3{\times}$ over the baseline SIMD array performance. This is in contrast to MMX-type instructions (a representative Intel multimedia extension), which achieve a speedup of only $1.4{\times}$ over the same baseline SIMD array performance. In addition, the proposed instructions achieve $2.5{\times}$ better energy efficiency than the baseline program, while MMX-type instructions achieve only $1.8{\times}$ better energy efficiency than the baseline program.

사각면 코너 큐브 재귀 반사체의 반사출력광 특성 및 응용

재귀 반사체(Retro Reflector)는 그 반사특성을 살려 베네치안 블라인드 슬랏, 디스플레이, 그리고 교통 안전 분야 등에서 활용 영역이 넓어져 가고 있다. 재귀 반사율 분포를 조절할 수 있는 코너 큐브 재귀 반사체를 정의하고, 입사각도에 따라 그 재귀반사광의 특성을 분석하여 교통 안전 분야에 적용하고자 하였다. 특성 분석 결과를 용이하게 파악할 수 있도록 시각화한 특성 도표를 고안하였으며, 이를 이용하여 다양한 교통 안전 분야의 재귀 반사 시트를 정량적으로 설계할 수 있음을 보였다. The applications for retro-reflectors, with their unique reflection characteristics, have been expanding, to include venetian blind slats, displays, traffic safety mark, etc. We propose expandable structures of inclined corner cube retro-reflectors and analyze their corresponding reflection characteristics. Various traffic safety structures with retro-reflectors may be designed more quantitatively using the chart of characteristics we have presented.

1차원적 단순배열구조 재귀반사체의 반사출력광 특성 및 응용

Retro-reflectors have been used for a wide range of applications such as traffic safety, special blinds, optical devices, etc. We analyzed the characteristics of the reflected light of a strap retro-reflector as a function of incidence angle. It is expected that various solar control structures may be designed more quantitatively using the characteristic chart we have prepared. 재귀반사체(Retro Reflector)는 그 특별한 기능을 살려 도로 교통안전, 특수 블라인드, 광소자 resonator 등 다양한 분야에서 활용 영역이 넓어져 가고 있다. 특히 근래에는 '재귀반사구조체'를 창문의 차양 및 채광 구조물로서 도입하여 조명을 스마트화하는 경우도 제시되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는, 태양광 조절용 구조물로서, 띠구조를 1차원적으로 단순배열한 '주름판형-재귀반사체', St-RR(Strap type-Retro Reflector) 구조를 정의하고, 입사각도에 따라 그 반사광의 특성을 분석하였다. 또한, 이 특성 결과를 용이하게 파악할 수 있도록 시각화한 특성 도표를 고안하였고, 이를 이용하여 각종 태양광 조절 구조물을 보다 정량적으로 설계할 수 있음을 보였다.

The studies on the Goryeo history by Japanese scholars, though they were active in 1970's, have gradually decreased quantitatively since the late 1980's, and this refects the situation that the number of the Goryeo history researchers in Japan has decreased. Moreover the writings which stand out qualitatively has not been much, and the number of the articles are written for the academic journals in Korea has increased. It seems, though, that there are not a few writings that can encourage learning in Korea in terms of the historic methodology and points of view. The microhistoric approaches to the subjects overlooked in the past, and the efforts to interpret the materials generally have their own meanings. For examples, the articles selecting the specific place and researching a long term of the transformation of local society, and interpreting the level of Goryeo in the change of international relations out of a national point of view in terms of political history, the analyses of women and marginal men, writings representing the related materials about Palgwanhoe wholly, and the whole research about the booking in Gaeseong and the study on money have given new points of view to the academic world. Moreover, the studies on local place presented actively since 1990's are of use in that they can give new viewpoint for studies to our academic world that concentrated on the viewpoint of national history. Especially, I think Korean and Japanese scholars will be concerned about the field of foreign relation that has been under active discussion since 1990's, in partnership with the studying tendency to doubt the vision of national history and try to establish new points of view after the late 1980's
