An experimental study was carried out on the drying characteristics of organic sludge particles in rotary dryer. The effect of various operating parameter such as feed rate, particle size, hot air<br/> temperature, and velocity on the drying rate was analysed. The results showed that the evaporation velocity was increased by 22~27% when the hot air temperature changed from 160℃ to 270℃ in the constant drying rate period. In particular, the empirical formula was obtained, which was the volumetric heat transfer coefficient from the relationship between panicles and hot air stream.

In this paper, the pressure drops were investigated according to the sintered porous wick structure in loop heat pipe(LHP) by theoretical analysis. LHP has the wick only in evaporator for the circulation of working fluid, so utilizes porous wick structure which pore diameter is very small for large capillary force. This paper investigates the effects of different parameters on the pressure drops of the LHP such as particle daimeter of sintered porous wick, wick porosity, vapor line diameter, thickness of wick and heating capacity. Working fluid is water and the material of sintered porous wick is copper. According to the these different parameters, capillary pressure, pressure drop in wick were analized by theoretical design method of LHP.

Microwave heating is a process in which the materials couple with microwave, absorb the electromagnetic energy volumetrically, and transform it into heat. This heating mechanism is advantageous to rapid heating rates, uniform heating, selective energy absorption, high efficiency and reduced costs. This paper presents a review of microwave heating application furnace Based on the results of this experiment, we plan to use it as design data for a 75㎾ microwave furnace. The application of high velocity air jets to heat transfer surface has tremendous engineering potential in various industries. The impinging jets are therefore widely used for their enhanced transport characteristics, especially for drying of continuous materials such as sheet, film, carpets, forming materials and pallets. This paper presents the drying characteristics of plate type material and performs the test with the change of operating conditions in conveyer band dryer using the impinging jet nozzles. The factors influencing drying rate were confirmed, also the design data of band dryer using the impinging jet was obtained.

In this paper, we investigated the heating characteristics of ceramic dielectric susceptor under various test conditions using microwave energy. Microwave sintering furnace for temperature increasing characteristics of ceramic dielectric susceptor was manufactured and its performance test was conducted. A multi-mode type cubic applicator was used, and a magnetron which generates output of 25kW and operates at a 915MHz was equipped in this microwave furnace. The effect on the temperature increasing characteristics according to the microwave power and the change of the operating conditions of test samples was analysed experimentally. As a result, we have obtained basic design data for high temperature microwave sintering furnace.
