Object : This study was designed to research whether the protection and inhibitory effects of cardiovascular diseases in L-NAME induced rat or ECV 304 cell lines through the Cell morphological pattern, Tunel assay, LDH activity, heart rate, blood pressure and immunohistochemistric analysis by Boonsimgieum water extract Methods : Nitric oxide(NO) play an important role in normal and pathophysiological cells including as a messenger molecule, neurotransmitter, microbiocidal agent, or dilator of blood vessels and artheriosclerosis, hypertension, myocardial infarction, respectively. Endothelial cell products can modulate the magnitude of a response to a vasoconstrictor, as evinced by the greater constriction after endothelium removal or NO synthesis blockade. To investigate that Boonsimgieum in the potential contribution of the levels of nitric oxide generated by endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and the mechanisms of protection against NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), human ECV 304 cells, which normally do not express eNOS, were expressed by L-NAME. L-NAME stimulated rat or cells were found to be resistant to injury and delayed death following the Boonsimgieum. Inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis abolished the protective effect against L-NAME, thrombin and collagen exposure. Interestingly, such effects have been observed during stimulation with agents such as phenylephrine and KCl on L-NAME mediate rats, were damaged by the NOS inhibitor L-NAME. Result : As the result of this study, In group, the anti-apoptosis and necrosis in the cardiovascular system have a potential capacity for prevented, protected and treating the diseases of cardiovascular system, against the necrosis of rat and ECV 304 cells with Caspase 3 and calpain expression by L-NAME is promoted. Conclusion : these results demonstrate neuroprotective and memory enhancing effects of ZIBU, suggesting its beneficial actions for the treatment of AD.
석창포(石菖蒲)가 뇌허혈(腦虛血)을 유발(誘發)시킨 백서(白鼠)에서의 뇌신경보호효과(腦神經保護效果)

Object: Acori graminei rhizoma(AGR) extract is clinically used to treat the cerebral ischemia in Korea. The present study was undertaken to study the neuroprotective effect of AGR extract in middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) rats. Methods: Changes of extracellular levels of glutamate, aspartate, GABA, glycine, taurine, tyrosine, alanine in striatum were collected at 20 minutes interval by in vivo microdialysis and then analyzed by HPLC(high performance liquid chromatography) in rats subjected to permanent focal cerebral ischemia induced by 2 hours of MCAO. AGR extract was orally administrated before MCAO. Different animals were used for measurement of cerebral infarction volume induced by 24 hours of MCAO with TTC staining and image analysis. Result : The infarction volume was decreased and focal cerebral ischemia - induced increase of extracellular glutamate, aspartate, and tyrosine were inhibited after the treatment of AGR extract. On the other hand, the increase of glycine and alanine not but GABA and taurine were enhenced after the treatment of AGR extract. Conclusion: These results suggest that AGR extract can playa role in protecting against cerebral ischemia by regulating extracellular levels of excitatory and inhibitory amino acid neurotransmitters.
가미음천이진탕(加味陰喘二陳湯) 투여환자(投與患者) 33례(例) 분석보고(分析報告)

Objectives: We intented to find out the effect of Gami-Eumcheonyijintang to patients who complain with coughing and to make it useful for treating the patients with the symptom. Materials and Methods: We examined the medical of 33 patients who visited with the symptoms of coughing, sputum in Kyungsan University, Hospital of Oriental Medicine from April, 1996 to February, 1999. and we collected the result of the administration with Gami-Eumcheonyijintong. We aimed to find any change in the symptoms, reappearance after recovery, and any special facts with the medicine surveying by telephoning to the patients. Results : the results are as follows, 1. It showed that patients who were under thirties showed higher rate of recovery(75.00%) than who were over thirties(52.94% ). 2, The acute-stage patients who were recovered in less than four weeks showed higher rate of recovery than those chronic-stage patients who were recovered in more than eight weeks. 3. The patients who didn't have the symptoms of sputum or had less serious problems of it with severe coughing showed relatively the highest rate of recovery(73.91% ). 4. The patients who showed the coughing symptom right after URI without any past constitutional history showed the highest rate of recovery(73.68% ). Conclusion : From the above result, we found that Gami-Eumcheonyijintang is more effective in early coughing symptom after URI than chronic stage coughing symptom. It is thought that more studies about medicine composition are needed in the further.
