Many ecological indices in sea water are influenced by the flow pattern. so the natural purification mechanism in the bay. such as, water exchange. distribution in time and space of the ecological system indices etc, will change with the flow pattern of the water. the natural dynamic topography wilt change for the water engineering, and the flow pattern will be influenced, so the bay ecological environment will be influenced. This effect is more evident for the bay which has absorption function of pollution. Assessment of the environment for every harbor layout schemes is one of the important contents for the stage of layout and design.<br/> The effects to the flow pattern are studied in this paper caused by the habour water engineering, and changes of the ecological environment in bay is also studied, A method and thinking way is given to the optimization of water engineering layout schemes. It is a benefical test to combine modern environment science with traditional ways of harbour layout and design. Besides the environment assessment and optimization of general layout scheme of YanTian harbour is concluded from the results of this article.
