본 연구는 19세기 초 unknown volcano 폭발과 인도네시아의 탐보라 화산 폭발로 인한 이상기후 현상이었던 ‘The Year Without a Summer’가 순조 재위시기였던 조선의 기후에 미친 영향을 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 『조선왕조실록』의 가뭄기록을 바탕으로 가뭄과 기우제가 어떤 관계를 보이며, 화산폭발이 순조시기 가뭄과 기우제 기록에 어떤 영향을 주었는지에 대해 moving average 기법을 바탕으로 살펴보았다. 두 화산폭발로 인해 전 세계적인 농업 생산량 감소, 전염병 등의 피해가 나타난 만큼 조선에서도 가뭄, 농업생산량 저하와 같은 현상이 심각할 것으로 예상하였다. 분석 결과 순조시기 『조선왕조실록』의 가뭄, 기우제의 기록 빈도가 높아지긴 하였으나 조선 전체적인 흐름 속에서 살펴볼 때 주목할 정도의 증가는 아니었다. 이는 한반도가 지리적으로 몬순기후의 영향을 더 받기 때문에 19세기 초 두 화산 폭발의 영향이 크지 않았고, 지역적 규모의 기후에 더 많은 영향을 받았던 것으로 보인다. In this study, it was an extraordinary weather phenomenon due to the explosion of the unknown volcano in the early 19th century and the explosion of Tambora volcano in Indonesia, "The Year Without a Summer" examined the impact of Korea"s climate, which was the time of Soonjo dynasty. I examined about how the explosion of the volcano affected the drought and record of ritual for rain which based on "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty" at Soonjo dynasty and what relationship do they have by the moving average method. Two volcanic eruptions predicted frequent phenomena such as a decline in agricultural output worldwide, a drought in Korea as well as a decrease in agricultural production as infectious diseases and other damage occurred. As a result of the analysis, the frequency of drought and ritual for rain in the "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty" was high, but when examined in the overall flow of Joseon dynasty it was not that much amount to have attention. This seems that the influence of the two volcanic eruptions at the beginning of the 19th century was not significant, and the regional scale climate was influenced more because geographically the Korean Peninsula is geographically affected more by the monsoon climate.
