Earth system model uses the coupler to links together the subsystems such as atmosphere and ocean, etc. The OASIS3-MCT is a widely used coupler and the coupling processes are specified in the configuration file 'namcouple'. However, it is difficult for domestic researchers to modify the file due to lack of OASIS3-MCT guides in Korean. Here we explain the OASIS3-MCT and namcouple file implemented in the UKESM-TOPAZ model. It would be helpful for climate model beginners to understand and modify the OASIS3-MCT and namcouple for their own study.

Abnormal climate events in which the average state, occurrence frequency, and intensity of meteorological phenomena change frequently is increasing recently, causing large socioeconomic damages. Relevant government ministries, academic circles, and media provide measures to provide information related to the abnormal climate events on the Korean peninsula and to cope with them appropriately. This paper summarizes data about weather disasters such as heat waves, cold waves, droughts, and various marine environmental changes including ocean warming. It also summarizes recent trends and causes of abnormal climate, cases of damage, countermeasures, and their relevance to climate change. If we understand the abnormal weather phenomena well and take appropriate actions, it will be helpful for reducing the damage.

The Generic Mapping Tool (GMT) is developed to visualize Earth science observations at the Hawaii University. GMT is provided for individuals to download the source code freely. In this paper, the basic functionality of GMT is described by focusing on the options and providing examples of GMT for use in Earth science lectures and research. We hope that teachers, students, or researchers will be able to use GMT to achieve their goals.
