The market of the horizontal axis washing machine (drum washing machine) has been growing drastically<br/> in Korea by about 80% annually since 2000. As market grows fast, the customerTs demands concerning<br/> quality becomes more strict and various. Imbalance sensing is a key technology to reduce the NVH problem<br/> in a washing machine, because the laundry is time-variant and uncontrollable source of imbalance, which can<br/> cause more than 200kgf exciting force. In this paper, imbalance-sensing methods are briefly reviewed, new<br/> acceleration sensing circuits are examined, and finally the control algorithm of spinning process is proposed<br/> and validated.

A torque converter is one of key component in an automatic transmission, and many new researches on a torque converter have been conducted for last 10 years. These researches include visualizations of flow field and computational fluid dynamic techniques. This paper presents relative sensitivities of design parameters using these research results and orthogonal array. The results prove that particles of design experience accumulated for many years are still valid.<br/>

Put one of the most prevalent problems encountered in washing machine is the vibration during spin cycle. The primary cause of this vibration is mass unbalance associated with non-unformed distribution of clothes. The balance of washing machine plays an important role which reduces the vibration by injecting the salt water into the balance of washing. Therefore, we researched on the balancer optimization in order to reduce the initial vibration during a low-speed spin cycle while satisfying the final vibration at high-speed spin cycle within reliable regions. Especially, to perform an optimization process efficiently, an approximated vibration model, which is a function by using the experiment data based on an orthogonal array, was created by RBFR method. In conclusion, it is demonstrated by experiment that the optimum balancer is reduced vibration while satisfying the design requirement.

It's important to have a precise model of the clutch damper to simulate the entire powertrain model and predict the response of the system In this paper we developed a new model in which the spring used in the clutch damper is divided into a finite number of elements. The model takes many unique properties of arc-shaped springs into consideration and is anticipated to be more precise than conventional simple models. With that model we could present two meaningful results we can utilize afterwards. One is the simulation concerning the peak torque transmitted via clutch damper and another is that shows the characteristics of the clutch damper.

The torque converter, a major part of automatic transmissions, has many difficulties in analysis due to the factors such as power transmission through fluid flow, complex internal geometry, and varying operational conditions. Because of such difficulties, the dynamic analysis and design of a torque converter are generally carried out by using equivalent performance model which is based on the concept of mean flow path. With this model many studies are carried out on the performance analysis of torque converter. And verifications of this model are performed through experiments, from which the performance characteristics of torque converter can be extracted. But many studies are restricted on normal operating conditions of torque converter such as positive speed ratio.<br/> In this study, experimental performance analysis of torque converter is carried out on various operating conditions including both negative and positive speed ratios. And the effects of varying input power and operating temperature on performance characteristics are extracted.<br/>
