정보시스템의 2000년 문제에 대한 국내기업의 전략적 대응 실증분석

Year 2000 (Y2K) is the global crisis in numbering systems that programers have to deal with. In this research, we introduce the formatting problems with Y2K, summarize the problem and its technical solutions. Then, we analyze the Korean companies' strategic preparation for Y2K projects. Major findings are summarized as follows: a) Although key factors to solve Y2K crisis are human resource, time, and cost, 51% of the respondents lacked funds and 29% of them haven't formed a solution team yet; b) IS departments want their top management to work toward a shared vision of Y2K within their organization; c) Although the banking industry is the leading industry in solving Y2K, their efforts to modify the applications are far behind the schedule so that they may not fix Y2K date problem on time; d) Although 52% of respondents use expansion to repair Y2K, 34% of them still select windowing, which needs an extra work to update the numeric fields in software applications between now and the year 2050 or so.
