In this paper, we fabricated an apparatus of the electro-chemical discharge drilling for boring narrow through-hole into a glass. In the electrolyte, electro-chemical discharge creates high temperature condition by the electro-discharge energy. Therefore, glass are removed by the accelerated chemical reaction with glasses and chemicals in the high temperature condition. For optimization of the electro-chemical discharge drilling, the process condition was studied experimentally as a function of the electrolyte concentration, supply voltage and process time. The optimum condition was from DC25V to DC30V of applied voltage, 35 wt% NaOH solution.
Design and Optimization of Coaxial Magnetic Gear Using Taguchi Method

Recently, magnetic gears (MG) have been considered the counterparts of the conventional mechanical gears, especially for applications where maintenance-free and noncontact operations are desirable. Among the MG topologies, the coaxial modulated configuration seems to be the most promising. This study presents an optimized design for coaxial MG based on Taguchi method. Firstly, the effects of some major parameters effect on gear performance are investigated, including the thickness of inner/outer magnetic poles, steel ring poles and inner/outer iron rings. Secondly, each factors and levels of all key parameters will be applied to analysis the performance of the magnetic gear through evaluating the transmission magnetic torque. The COMSOL Multiphysics software is simulated to investigate the most effected parameters. Finally, the result of the optimized parameters for the coaxial magnetic gear will be determined and verified.
