대형서점에 나타난 복합문화공간의 플랫폼화 특성 연구

        윤지효 ( Yoon Jihyo ),윤재은 ( Yoon Jaeeun ) 한국공간디자인학회 2021 한국공간디자인학회논문집 Vol.16 No.3

(Background and Purpose) The expansion of online bookstores has created a crisis for offline bookstores, which requires a solution. This led to the transformation of large bookstores into complex cultural spaces. Large bookstores reflected social trends and benchmarked exemplary overseas cases, leading to complexization with various facilities beyond the book sales space. In addition, it actively reflects consumer lifestyles to become a consumer-oriented sociocultural platform. Keeping pace with this phenomenon, the purpose of this study is to analyze large bookstores based on the social characteristics of the complex cultural space. This study also examines the platformization characteristics of complex cultural spaces that appear in large bookstores. (Method) This study considers the concept and spatial perception of large bookstores through prior research, and derives cultural spatial elements that appeared in large bookstores through theoretical considerations. Subsequently, it defines the platform and extracts the elements of platformization using the function and type arrangement of the spatial platform. The study uses the extracted elements as the analysis elements for a large bookstore, and examines the phenomenon of platforming a complex cultural space. (Results) This study divided the largest branches in Seoul, Kyobo Bookstore in Gwanghwamun, Kyobo Bookstore in Gangnam, Yeongpoong Jongno Main Bookstore, and Arc & Book in City Hall, into three types of spaces to analyze the phenomenon of platformization. The results showed that large bookstores are not absolute spaces, but spaces where platform elements are connected and expanded. (Conclusions) This study attempted to investigate the cultural value and spatial characteristics of the platform space by conducting case analysis based on prior research and theoretical considerations centered on large domestic bookstores on the platformization of complex cultural spaces. As platform elements do not appear individually but are related to each other, when planning a complex cultural space, it is necessary to avoid the standardized absoluteness and disconnection of space, and to consider possibility, contingency, and expandability. By reconstructing the platform elements that appeared in large bookstores with similar tendencies, I discovered indeterministic, unconstrained, and post-regional spatial characteristics of cultural platformization. Indeterminate spatiality is the absolute space and the tangible and intangible elements contained therein are constantly changing to accommodate various functions. Unconstrained spatiality refers to a space where continuous evolution occurs in the process of achieving convergence with other fields. Post-regional spatiality creates an open space by removing boundaries and promotes exchange by inducing users. In the future, complex cultural spaces including large bookstores are expected to become spaces that create possibilities of open spaces by actively utilizing these platform elements.

Vol.12 No.2

(Background and Purpose) Architectural design of Zaha Hadid, a representing deconstructivist architect in modern architecture has been applied to representative buildings in each city of the world. Especially, despite sense of cultural difference of the region, burden for high taxes and continuous maintenance cost are expected for public buildings, her architectural project has still been pushed forward vigorously even after her death. Thus, the study aims to analyze and evaluate philosophical meanings and characteristics of expression involved in her architecture in terms of constructivist philosophy that has served as the foundation of Zaha Hadid`s architectural works exceeding general evaluations on Zaha Hadid`s architectural design that are divided into two. Of her architectural characteristics, the study especially selected an aspect of attempting spatial & temporal communication in various forms in both interior·exterior space of architecture, and aims to investigate differance expressional characteristics of space-time concept focusing on the works immediately before her death. (Methodology) To analyze differance expressional characteristics of space-time concept shown in Zaha Hadid`s architecture, the study examined and analyzed the previous studies to collect the typical characteristics and analytical methods clearly, and analyzed her recent architectural examples that use and function are not overlapped out of architectural projects she designed and completed from 2010 to before her death in 2016, and then concluded by integrating such case analyses. (Result) Differance expressional characteristics of relative space-time concept produced through the previous studies are shown as uncertain concept (openness, asymmetry, irregularity), multiview concept(simultaneity, reiteration) and dynamic visual concept(dynamic, antigravity, transparency). As a result of analyzing Zaha Hadid`s works based on the foregoing, asymmetry is most strongly shown in the uncertain concept, reiteration in multiview concept and dynamic in dynamic visual concept respectively, and characteristic which is most strongly shown in the overall cases is reiteration, whereas transparancy was shown the most weakly. While differance expressional characteristics of relative space-time concept is shown the most variously and strongly in public buildings out of selected cases, it was shown relatively weakly in residential or office buildings. (Conclusion) She had put dynamics to interior and exterior space in the buildings using various differance expressional characteristics of relative space-time concept beyond Euclidean geometry preferred in the existing architecture - and had continually expressed differance characteristic of space-time concept using mobility of clashes and crosses. Along the way, her architectural work makes people`s time during their stay in the space differance and cross-linked, and makes them experience new space with many sides and layers. This study, by analyzing and integrating the previous studies, examined differance expressional characteristics of space-time space as shown in recent work of deconstructivist architect Zaha Hadid. The study believes that in the contemporary society where the importance of various needs and relative values is emphasized more than ever, Zaha Hadid`s architectural philosophy highlighting differance expression must be a factor that should still be considered deeply in plenty of architectural work to be carried on in the future. The researchers hope further research be conducted in regard to other various differance expressional characteristics of her work besides relative space-time concept, and we dare expect that the findings of this study could help people understand deconstructivist architecture besides the work world of Zaha Hadid.

Vol.13 No.3

(Background and Purpose) Flower design is a temporal and spatial formative art activity as a process of shaping pluralistic concepts. It expresses the psychology of human ego, unconscious mind, spiritual world, and forms an interrelated relationship with humans in the process of embodying the inherent aesthetic value. Semiotics is a useful theoretical foundation in various disciplines, and comprises the study of how creation and semantics of symbolism are accomplished. The purpose of this study is to expand the meaning of flower design through a broad interpretation in a pluralistic meaning to humans, and to inform the various implications in other disciplines of the need for a strategic approach to flower space design. (Method) This study focuses on the semiotic characteristics defined by Peirce and examine the elements of semiotics evident in the characteristics of flower design, which are derived by categorizing the symbols into symbolic symbols, symbolic signs, and symbolic symbols. A semiotic element is applied by setting the wedding space of five-star hotels in the Seoul metropolitan area in South Korea. The characteristics of flower design, in terms of semiotics, are summarized by analyzing the factors that have been applied to the semiotic characteristics. (Results) As a result, nine symbolic elements were extracted from three symbolic categories in this study. The flower design created in space is expressed as molding, material, and color, and it also takes on reality as a symbol of a landmark. The substantive element is created as a meaningful space through the designer’s ideas, the various characteristics, symbols of the flower element, and presents the space through direct and realistic elements of flower design. Through these icon signs and index signs, the user can interact with the message or meaning that the user wants to communicate in the flower space. It was found that the sense of space is further expanded by stimulating the senses and psychological experiences. (Conclusions) It was found that the symbolic view is applied to the space design of flower design, and that the symbol and meaning are conveyed to the users who interacting with it, thus doubling the value of space. As such, flower design has a pluralistic meaning to human beings, and this study confirms the need for future study of more diverse perspectives within a wider interpretation. Symbolic and conceptual flower space design can arguably play a significant role in space production since more diverse attempts will be made in this domain in the future. It is anticipated that a semiotic study between flower and space will reveal the meaning and potential of future flower space design and develop as a new design methodology for activation.

(Background and Purpose) Demands from the state and society for corporate social responsibility are increasing. In response, some companies fulfill their social responsibility to the local community by pursuing the development of social culture and arts in revitalizing underdeveloped areas or factories with the cooperation of artists and local residents. These corporate mecenat activities not only enhance local co-prosperity, local cultural, and social values through the revitalization of commerce, but also spread its influence across cities, not just in designated spaces. The value of space, which is deeply rooted in regional co-prosperity, historical cultural preservation, and its relationship, implies possibilities as an infinite platform. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out what characteristics and value the application of urban regeneration space design as a platform for social and cultural expansion, among corporate messages and methods.(Method) This study analyzes the value factors that appear in the mecenat urban regeneration, divides the type of urban regeneration corresponding to the value element into genuine space, public space, and continuous space, and analyzes the characteristics of spatial platformization and value that appear in the space by type of message or urban regeneration within the last (Results) The accessible, economic, and symbolic characteristics of the types of message or urban regeneration are shown in the true space, the shared open and complementary characteristics in the public space and the extended, utilized and participatory characteristics in the continuous space. In addition, through prior research, characteristics appearing on space platforms were analyzed to derive characteristics such as activism, scalability, participation, persistence, openness, variability, sharing, connectivity and diversity. By linking these characteristics, Hyundai Motor Group's H-Village Project, Shinhan Card's Euljiro 3-ga Project, Kiswire's F1963, Underdogs and SK E&S's Localize Project were analyzed. The analysis showed that the characteristics of spatial platformization in Mecenat urban regeneration not only boosts local economy and cultural arts, but also a virtuous circle structure of increasing corporate value in the region.(Conclusions) The scalability of spatial platforming can improve understanding of local communities, provide support suitable for local conditions, create close bonds with local areas, and create virtuous structures of increasing corporate value in the region through regional linkage with regard to the platforming characteristics that appear in the messaging or urban renewal activities. The scalability of spatial platforming can improve understanding of local communities, provide support suitable for local conditions, create close bonds with local areas, and create virtuous structures of increasing corporate value in the region through regional linkage with regard to the platforming characteristics that appear in the messaging or urban renewal activities.

        박현아 ( Park Hyuna ),윤재은 ( Yoon Jaeeun ) 한국공간디자인학회 2020 한국공간디자인학회논문집 Vol.15 No.7

(Background and Purpose) The purpose of this study is to examines the theory of mobility residence space and ubiquitous characteristics, and based on this, explore the spatial characteristics with rhizome philosophy of Deleuze. Due to the influence of mobile housing, the realm of human life has been expanded differently from the existing ones, and is still expanding today. In the future society, it is likely that we will acknowledge the space as an ambiguous one without division of areas. Modern society is witnessing the weakening of the boundaries between places due to advancement of transportation and science, eventually depriving the meaning of the boundaries of spaces due to ubiquitous environment. Thus, this study explains the rhizomal characteristics of the future mobility residential space present in modern ubiquitous environment, and explore the spatial characteristics of the future mobility residence space. (Method) In this study, we analyze the ubiquitous environment with its scientific and technical characteristics. Preceding studies of mobility spaces applied various view points of the information technology space. We apply literature survey and case analysis to reveal the characteristics of the mobility residential space. (Result) In this study, the rhizomal characteristics of future urban mobility residential spaces in a ubiquitous environment were analyzed by dividing them into a rhizome of a place, a rhizome of a time, and a rhizome of a shape. The results were derived as coherence, mobility, flexibility, expandability, and connectivity, and coherence was shown as the overlapping of digital space and real space, and mobility was shown as fluidity due to the change in space concept. Flexibility appears as transcendence in time and space due to changes in space, expandability appears as infinite space without concept of domain, and finally, connectivity appears as spatiality due to the network of space. Future urban residence space may be characterized as above, and due to the development of ubiquitous technology, it will evolve into a network space that combines function and space. (Conclusion) The conclusion of this study is to derive the rhizomal characteristics of the future mobility residential space within the ubiquitous environment by analyzing the theory of ubiquitousness and the theory of mobility residential space. We attampted explore the characteristics of future urban mobility residential space environment, and also to present a new standard of the future residence space. We anticipate analyses of diverse future urban space ubiquitous residence space and smart space based on this study.

        곽명헌 ( Gwak Myungheon ),윤재은 ( Yoon Jaeeun ) 한국공간디자인학회 2020 한국공간디자인학회논문집 Vol.15 No.7

(Background and Purpose) As the times have evolved, the way of education has also changed, focusing on creative education that can cultivate creative thinking in injecting education that delivers unilateral knowledge and acquires information. As the educational environment centered on contents that can cultivate creative thinking becomes important, children's exhibition spaces also need a scaffolding change from a simple play experience space to a space where they can develop creative thinking, improve problem-solving skills, and increase potential development skills. In this study, the environment creation is important to enhance the educational learning effect of the children, and it is a children's experience space centering on Vygotsky's theory of cognitive development that emphasizes social interaction through scaffolding (scaffolding) that can enhance children's learning ability. The purpose of this study is to derive the scaffolding characteristics and to show the effect on children's exhibition and experience space. Furthermore, I would like to suggest the direction of the exhibition space for children and to help research space development that raises creative thinking of children. (Method) Through prior studies of children's space, we want to identify the characteristics of exhibition space and to consider the concept of close development area and scapolding based on Vigotsky's development theory. Based on the theoretical considerations, the characteristics of scapolding appearing in the children's exhibition space were derived. In addition, the Seoul Sangsangnara, Goyang Children's Museum, Gyeonggi Children's Museum, the National Children's Museum, and the Folk Children's Museum were selected as examples to analyze the characteristics of Scapolding, which increases children's creative thinking and potential development levels.(Results) The characteristics appearing in the children's exhibition space show the same spatial characteristics as the characteristics of the scaffolding for cognitive development, and it can be concluded that this is applied to the children's exhibition and experience space in various ways. Spatial characteristics of scaffolding are classified into social series, structural motivation, and instrumental scaffolding, and it can be seen that it is a platform for children's cognitive development and creative thinking through the interaction. (Conclusions) The characteristics of various scaffolding appear in the children's exhibition space, and it proves that it is a platform for raising children's cognitive and potential development levels through interactions between experiences. It is expected that the space plan that applies the characteristics of scaffolding will serve as an important platform for children's cognitive development and creativity development in the future children's exhibition and experience space.

Vol.15 No.7

(Background and Purpose) With rapidly-growing information technology and digital media and the collapse of regional limitation of information delivery, smart spaces, where various technologies are integrated with media, have appeared. Continuing this trend, smart exhibition spaces with integrated types of digital media have also been observed in exhibition halls, which have further developed as communication spaces utilizing online and offline rather than simply delivering products and corporate information unilaterally. Therefore, it seems that corporate exhibition halls will integrate digital media more positively into space as a strategy for space marketing in line with the development of digital media. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the characteristics of corporate exhibition halls utilizing digital media centering on space marketing. (Method) This study considers theories on digital media, corporate exhibition halls, and space marketing. Moreover, it draws on the characteristics of space marketing utilizing digital media and based on this, analyzes spatial, functional, and social elements. Based on the three elements drawn, it draws keywords on each element and for detailed study, and selects cases for analysis focusing on the corporate exhibition halls which were reopened or renewed in the recent five years centering on metropolitan areas. (Results) The result indicate that spatial elements were most marked, followed by functional and social elements. In case of spatial elements, corporations exchange information with the audience through experimental exhibitions where mutual communication is possible in spaces where symbolism is distinct. This induces relationship formation between corporations and visitors. In case of functional elements, digital media planning was utilized the most in every exhibition hall, and the functional space where media were integrated with technologies was produced, which encouraged the audience to participate in spectatorship more actively. Finally, in case of social elements, every corporation made cultural attempts such as educational programs and events through its own exhibition hall to form a social relationship; in other words, forming a social relationship with visitors and corporate exhibition hall played a role as a cultural space for general audience beyond its promotional purpose. (Conclusions) It was concluded that digital media utilized as a means for space marketing in corporate exhibition halls already accounted for a considerable proportion and would also be further utilized in the future. Therefore, corporations need to think about the development of digital media and differentiation plans utilizing digital media more actively, and the experience from viewing in corporate exhibition halls utilizing digital media from the visitor’s perspective is helpful in forming a positive image about corporations. This will also be used as a central element in space marketing in the future.

부석사에 나타난 공간의 리좀화 경향과 비위계적 배치특성 연구

        박현아 ( Park Hyuna ),윤재은 ( Yoon Jaeeun ) 한국공간디자인학회 2020 한국공간디자인학회논문집 Vol.15 No.7

(Background and Purpose) This study defines rhizomal tendency and correlation of non-hierarchical arrangement characteristics of Buseoksa Temlple, one of the main Buddhist temples in Korea. We analyze the arrangement characteristics of Iljumun, Cheonwangmun, Beomjonggak, Anyangru, and Muryangsujeon, the representative spaces of Buseoksa Temple, and devise a basic plan of analysis to study the rhizomization tendency and non-hierarchical arrangement characteristics of Buseoksa Temple. This will allow us to grasp the non-hierarchical relationship between the space arrangement of Buseoksa Temple and its rhizomal tendency. The historical spatial characteristics and constituent elements of Buseoksa Temple were reviewed, and the spatial characteristics and arrangement characteristics of Buseoksa Temple were derived and analyzed based on the rhizome theory. (Method) The method of this study is to study the representative spaces of Buseoksa by dividing them into non-hierarchical arrangement characteristics. We tried to clarify the rhizomization tendency and non-hierarchical characteristics of the Buseoksa space based on various literature surveys and field trip studies. The procedure is as follows: First, validity and significance of the study is proposed through background and purpose of the study. Second, general concepts of Buseoksa Temple’s space is studied with its spatial constituent elements. Third, we derive the context of the analysis by studying the theoretical concept and non-hierarchical characteristics of rhizome. Forth, each derived result is expressed as the spatial characteristics of Buseoksa Temple through de-hierarchicalization of structural axes, de-hierarchization of spatial meaning, and de-hierarchization of sectional space. Finally, conclusion is presented. (Results) As a result of analyzing Buseoksa by dividing it horizontally and vertically into four stages of introduction, development, turn and conclusion, it appears as a non-hierarchical structure axis, a non-hierarchical spatial meaning, and a non-hierarchical sectional space. The non-hierarchical structure axis appears as a characteristic of horizontal space arrangement, and has a different non-hierarchical structure axis in the existing temple architecture. The non-hierarchical meaning of space has a non-hierarchical spatial meaning different from the meaning of each space. Finally, the non-hierarchical arrangement of the cross-sectional space appears as a characteristic of vertical space arrangement, and has a non-hierarchical arrangement different from the vertical level difference. (Conclusions) We theoretically examined the architectural characteristics and constituent elements of Buseoksa Temple, and derived its non-hierarchical characteristics based on rhizome philosophy. Although prior research on Korean temple architecture mainly focused on morphology, we expect a novel study theme of Korean temple architecture study. We anticipate abundant study of Korean temple architecture via modern perspective that can present a novel spatial philosophy which modern society will learn from.

B.I.G 건축에 나타난 프랙털 기하학의 표현 특성연구

        김효원 ( Kim Hyowon ),윤재은 ( Yoon Jaeeun ) 한국공간디자인학회 2020 한국공간디자인학회논문집 Vol.15 No.8

(Background and Purpose) In the early 1900s, architecture and design were both functional and rational, unlike before that time, and activities were different as well. The influence of learning and the idea of the times have changed as the external forms within them have been shared, and after modernism and post-modernism, they reached modern deconstruction. Increasingly complex social phenomena and architectural forms have started resembling fractals. As architecture denotes the space of the main active environment utilized by human beings, it can describe our past, present, and future because it simultaneously reflects the user behavior, and the current architecture includes our appearance or the direction we are currently pursuing. Among many modern architectural offices, the Bjark Ingels Group (B.I.G.) has emerged as a group that reveals its philosophy in uniquely shaped architectural works. Bjarke Ingels created his own office in 2005 and stood out by winning various architectural awards at a young age and in a short period of time. Moreover, he is drawing attention not only because of his bold design, but also because it is interesting in form and in harmony with the environment . The group aims for an architecture acceptable to both nature and human beings, always striving to reach that goal. Ingels’ architectural form goes beyond simple Euclidean geometry and captivates us with a unique look. Therefore, fractal geometry is easier to understand his architecture. This study examines the expressive characteristics of fractal geometry utilized in the architecture of B.I.G., one of the architects representing the present, to learn about the future direction of architecture should pursue. (Method) Through a literary review, the B.I.G Group and their philosophy, fractal geometry, and fractal geometry characteristics were explored, and the shaping characteristics of fractal geometry were analyzed to derive keywords. We selected and analyzed five B.I.G architectural works using derived keywords. (Results) In this study, eight keywords were extracted through morphological relationships, circulation, non-predictive, and de-scenching, which are architectural molding characteristics of the fractals. It was found that they could be constructed in a form-excellent way, while embracing both humans and nature. (Conclusions) B.I.G.'s architecture includes related, adaptive, evolutionary, and de-authoritative expressions, and such architecture that shows or uses fractal geometry derived from nature could be one of the ways in which we could get closer to it. Currently, a lot of research is underway to make three-dimensional models possible, as well as fractal geometry, and we hope to use them to build new and diverse architectural works that would merge with the environment.

        민경훈 ( Min Kyeonghoon ),윤재은 ( Yoon Jaeeun ) 한국공간디자인학회 2020 한국공간디자인학회논문집 Vol.15 No.8

(Background and Purpose) Capital has served as a power to determine urban space; consequently, it has expanded urban space into architectural acts for the production demand of capital, omitting the concern about human culture using space. This environment produces social conflicts in modern society. In many places, it is not a tool of industry, but only a space for human self-practice; the architectural method of cultural activity orientation is practiced to produce spaces centered on exchange and communication rather than capital. Thus, this study aims to examine the social movement of architecture to solve the fixed problems of modern history as well as to develop a spatial theory of the social architectural perspective through the ecological phenomenon of space for the cultural recovery of the community. (Method) To set the meaning of space for “sociality” by reconsidering modern ideas. Furthermore, the practice of building a physical spatial environment is analyzed, and the roles and types of social architecture are summarized. To study the already practiced social architecture, a spatial perspective is derived from the prior study of localistic humanities, which looks at the present social phenomenon by integrating the place and social theory. With the finally derived spatial theory, we will interpret urban spaces representative of the types of social architecture to find out the value produced in the relationship between architecture and society as well as theorize the phenomenon of social space. (Results) As a result of interpreting social architecture from a localistic perspective, first, space naturally represents the public nature of the community that embodies the history of places. It reflects the history or culture of the place where the architecture is located and uses it as a practical medium to improve conscious sociality. Second, it is changing the paradigm by discovering the contradictions of modern space and denying the present placeability through heterogeneous actions. Through small architectural changes, instead of urban overall subversion, it seeks a place of communication with an attitude of engagement that preserves the traditional culture and embraces the new culture. Third, it prepares a humanitarian chapter on human basic rights against the power of capitalism in urbanization. It eases the negative direction produced by existing localities and aims to restore common social identity. (Conclusions) In conclusion, social architecture is used as a methodology of selective spaces to improve the history held by certain places. In other words, with an initial understanding of the locality of the place and subject where the architecture is located as well as implementing the selective method, a small change in solving the social problems facing modern society could create a positive and sustainable space.
