Generally, diesel vehicles emit the toxic gases including nitrogen and produce noise during operation. these problems deteriorate the comport of passangers, environmental pollutions and energy saving. As the solution for the above-mentioned problems, the method, which involves the injection of high pressure and atomization of fuel, is needed to improve the combution process of diesel engine. In this study, researches for performance improvement of the high pressure control valve with solenoid actuator used in Common Rail System of diesel vehicle were accomplished. Also, the results of numerical analysis from the FEM and effects of the design parameters were discussed.

The purpose of this study is to bring out the optimal design factors which effect on dynamic characteristics in the design of flow control servo valve with high response characteristics, and to verify the validity of the design factors. In this study, force feedback type flow control valve with nozzle/flapper and with no drain is studied. And, the mutual effect of the parameters such as fixed orifice, nozzle diameter, and maximum displacement between nozzle and flapper are analyzed. We have done simulations using the optimal design factors and simulink(Matlab) as a simulation tool, and verified the validity of our simulations by means of comparison our simulation results with an experimental results of another similar valve.

This study proposes a new mechanism for needle-free drug injection into the skin of agricultural animals that can be simple, lightweight and high response characteristic, for the delivery of proteins or vaccines. Jet injectors, which deliver drugs into the skin using compressed springs or compressed gas, provide a needle-free method of conventional transdermal drug delivery. However, the compressed spring or gas type injector has the drawbacks of high weightand impact noise. On the other hand, the high pressure injection device using a high pressure pump and an on-off valve has the advantage that it is smaller than the noise of spring or gas injectors. For this reason, we propose a mechanism that consists of a high pressure pump, an accumulator, an on-off valve and an injection nozzle. We tested a commercial injector- a compressed gas injector - and the impact gun type injector - a compressed spring injector - and used them to verify new specifications. The accuracy of injection was measured with an electronic weight balancer. Finally, the proposed mechanism was evaluated their suitability for needle-free drug injection based on results of the analysis and comparison of all the injectors.

A simple pressure control valve using magneto-rheological (MR) fluid is presented, which is called the MR valve. The MR valve utilizes the apparent viscosity controllability of the MR fluid in the magnetic field and controls high-level fluid power without moving parts. However, conventional MR fluids have high base viscosities to disperse heavy soft iron particles and lose fluid power in pipes. In this study, low base viscosity MR fluids are developed using lightweight ferrite particles and applied to the MR valve. First, four MR fluids are fabricated with different compositions and the basic characteristics. are experimentally investigated with the 2-port MR valve. Second, a small-sized 3-port MR valve using a permanent magnet is proposed and the design procedure is theoretically derived. Third, the 3-port MR valve is fabricated and magnetic field analysis is performed. Furthermore, static and dynamic characteristics of the MR valve are experimentally investigated.

Printing technology has begun to get into the spotlight in many ways due to the low cost effectiveness to existent semiconductor process. It also has very useful application areas, not only paper printing but also patterning for LCD color filter, Photovoltaic patterning, RFID antenna, OLED, and so on. In this study, an apparatus of gravure offset printing was developed for fine line width printing. The pattern was composed of 20㎛ size of continuous lines of which pitch size was 40㎛. The printed pattern shows that it is possible to make around 20㎛ line-width printing pattern. The roll-to-roll printing system for fine line-width printing based on primary experiment is presented. For testing of multi-layer printing, the system was designed to be capable of printing two different materials from each printing unit using gravure-offset printing method and have a function of alignment of two printed materials.

Manufacturing of printed electronics using printing technology has begun to get into the hot issue in many ways due to the low cost effectiveness to existing semi-conductor process. This technology, with low cost and high productivity, can make it possible to produce printed electronics(sensors, simple circuit, LCD color filter, Photovoltaic patterning, RFID antenna, OLED, and so on). In this paper, the roll-to-roll printing system under development for printing of printed electronics is presented. The system consists of winder/ rewinder, two printing units, dryer units, guiding unit, vision system, and other auxiliary devices. For testing of multi -layer printing, the system was designed to be capable of printing two different materials from each printing unit using gravure-offset printing method and have a function of alignment of two printed materials.

In this paper, two types of piezoelectric micropumps having high power density are presented, which are applicable to miniature and individual fluid power sources for practical micromachines such as an in-pipe working microrobot and microfactory manufacturing mechanical micro parts. First, a piezoelectric micropump using resonance drive is presented. It basically consists of a metal bellows as a reciprocating chamber, a piezoelectric actuator and an additional mass for oscillating the bellows, and two check valves. The small displacement of piezoelectric actuator is magnified through resonance drive of pump driving unit. Pumping characteristics of the fabricated micropump are experimentally investigated and its applications are attempted to the micromachine and micropress. Second, a novel piezoelectric micropump using narrow pipeline element instead of the outlet check valve is presented. It utilizes a fluid inertia effect caused by a fast flow of the pipeline element and achieves a high pumping performance level. Also, its application to robot hand and micro bender is tested.
