The purpose of the study is to present the improvement plans of distance learning for in-service teachers in terms of what they want to take, and to identify the areas of contents they need to take using questionnaires. The study investigate the related studies of distance learning, and diagnose the problems and current state in distance learning systems for in-service teachers. In addition, it examined the relationship between retraining of teachers and lifelong education, and investigated the current state of distance learning. It particularly examined the current state and trends of distance learning institution for in-service teachers, and analyzed the curriculum. Questionnaires that were distributed and collected analyzed the opinion of in-service teachers who had experience in distance learning and the types of contents of distance teacher training. The study does not reflect technical aspects of the training. Improvement plans for the future distance learning were drawn based on the results. Research findings and conclusions of the study are as follows : First, most teachers evaluate positively the training results. It is necessary that distance training center and curriculums are restructured and resized. Second, financial support is needed for the training. It is necessary that the cost of in-service teacher distance training as well as training informations and materials is supported by the government when it especially is related with work. Third, it is suggested that training program for hobby, health, and welfare should be increased. Because teacher also is interested in hobby, health, welfare as an individual, it is needed to set up a measure to cope with the situations. It appears that training program as a lifelong education based on teacher s educational background, age, region should be provided.

This study investigated the effects of internet games on learning activities in middle and high school students. Findings will be helpful for learning activities and student guidance when students use internet and internet games in their school and home life. Findings for this study are as follows; First, the effects of internet games on learning activities are not seriously affected on students who are in any grade or any school boundary. Second, students in urban area schools are more accessible to the internet games than agricultural and fishing area schools. But, most of all students are exposed to the risk of internet game-holic gradually. Third, parents are not approval the internet games when their children are playing internet games. Forth, the problems of game-holic are not yet seriously level, but a few students are over tastes of playing internet games. Suggestions for the study are as follows. The effects of internet games to the students will be more influencable on students' learning activities and school life. Parents have to continuously observe their children's behavior in school and spare time regard to using internet, and also researchers have to study more actively regard to internet games.
제7차 교육과정의 창의적 재량활동 운영 사례 연구 : 농어촌 소규모 중학교를 중심으로 A Small-size Middle School in a Rural Area

The purpose of this study is to identify the problems and to explore improvement plans of the 7th Curriculum with cases of optional activities. Jimyoung Middle School as a case study is located in a small-sized rural area. The school run the optional activities of the curriculum based on the superior educational administrative authorities' policy. Not only positive aspects of the curriculum were found, but also many problems were disclosed. It is suggested that remedies procure the learning effectiveness. Remedies for the problems are as follows. First, it is necessary to increase the optional activities. Second, it is necessary to develop and to utilize various contents. Third, it is necessary to publicize the optional activities by the superior educational administrative authorities. Fourth, it is necessary to obtain full time teacher for the optional activities.
농어촌 소규모 중학교 단계형 수준별 교육과정 운영 사례 연구

The purposes of this study were to analyze a case of operating the level differentiated curriculum that is one of the characteristics of the 7th Curriculum, and to find the problems and improvement plans for the curriculum. A small-sized middle school with 6 classes was chosen as a case for this study. The school operated the level differentiated curriculum fairly well for a year. The results showed positive aspects and negative ones as well. It is expected that more problems will be occurred if the level differentiated curriculum is being operated fully in the middle school without complementary measures. Followings are found to be adjusted as a result in this case analysis. First, sufficient number of teachers are secured. It is not appropriate to do the level differentiated move when number of teachers in charge is less than 2 teachers. Second, it is practically difficult to run level-differentiated group in a class. It was very hard and had no effect teaching individually for various-level groups in a 45-minute class. Third, Sufficient financial support from government is needed for those who are needed to take extra complement curriculum guidance. In short, it is necessary to correct and complement the shortcomings of the level0differentiate curriculum in order to improve learning capabilities of students.
