Along with international regulatory action to protect the global environment, the refrigeration and air conditioning industry has been challenged continuously to curb the use of fluoridated greenhouse gases. With the signing of 197 countries in the October 2016 Kigali Amendment, legal regulatory policies for F-gas reduction are accelerating. EU countries are introducing F-gas quota system to strengthen environmental regulations on HFCs, which have a significant impact on global warming. These regulations are affecting domestic refrigerators, heat pump dryers and airconditioners in which HCFC & HFC refrigerants were used. And It is directly weakens productive competitiveness in the international market. Currently, other advanced countries such as EU and USA are taking the lead in the global refrigerant regulations. They are stepping up new alternative refrigerants and some of them are already available in the market. We also have to understand these new directions about Global warming and refrigerant, and need to prepare before it is too late. Therefore, I would like to introduce recent trends of refrigerant regulation&polish in different countries.

This study aimed to compare the design change and option of driving part of R410A application model with R32 application model. The capacity of R32 is larger than that of R410A, but the load of R32 is also larger than that of R410A. So when we adopt R32 in R410A system, we should change the design or option of driving part to improve the efficiency. The window air-conditioners use continuos velocity compressor, so displacement of compressor should be changed to improve the efficiency of air-conditioner. And the models that use inverter compressor don’t have to change the design of compressor but should change the option of driving part such as hz of compressor or pulse of electronic expansion valve. The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of R32 are larger than those of R410A, but the mass flow rate of R32 system is lower than R410A system, so the effect is compensated. Also temperature glide of R410A is lower than 0.1oC, so it can be regard as pure refrigerant. Thus, there’s no big difference of heat exchanger.

The distribution control of refrigerant flow is one of the basic technique to enhance system efficiency. However, if engineers forget to control the refrigerant flow speed in all operation range, refrigerant flow mal distribution becomes a noise source. The refrigerant flow noise should be checked and controlled at the lowest air flow mode which is the most silent mode and frequently used in night time.

The transmission noise characteristics through the ventilating duct was conducted numerically using SYSNOISE. A ventilating system is usually composed of mufflers for preventing noise transmission from the ventilator into indoors through the ducts and distributors for transferring air to or from each room. The transmitted noise characteristics of distributors which have different branch angles and of mufflers having different shapes were analyzed numerically. New duct element combining a muffler and a T-shaped distributor was developed for better noise reduction in this paper. New element's performance was shown numerically.
