The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics and weldability of the spot weld region for the car body. Steel used was ss41 with cold work and 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm and 1.6mm of thickness. Finite element method(FEM) and tensile-shearing test were conducted to investigate the characteristics of the spot weld region. Tensile-shearing test was done to obtain the weldability of the spot weld region. Real current values were measured using the Sigmatron apparatus in the course of welding process. Nugget sizes which were obtained from FEM analysis and experimental results were almost the same. Besides, nugget sizes increased with the current values for the each thickness. However, maximum loads for the specimens were dependent upon the current values. Except for 0.8mm thickness, maximum load increased with the current values almost. Welding time was important parameter also
