In the present study, the heat transfer performance in a motor for a personal air vehicle was investigated numerically. The various shapes of fin arrays according to the inclined fin angle were considered a design parameter. The 3-dimensional steady-state computational fluid dynamics were carried out with the multiple reference frames technique for rotational effects. The axial straight fin array had a better heat transfer performance than the concentric radial fin array because of the enhancement of convection heat transfer. On the other hand, the power consumption of the axial straight fin array was observed highly. This study can be helped to the thermal motor designer by giving the details of temperature distribution inside the motor components.
