Hierarchical structures that can improve a device performance by the synergistic effects of the micro/nano multi-scale structures have attracted much attention in various fields such as biomimetic structure and electronic devices. However, fabrication of the hierarchical structure with controllable morphology is still limited owing to their structural complexity, and it hinders their further applications. Herein, to overcome these limitations, a morphology-controllable wrinkled micro/nano hierarchical structure (WHS) was developed by integrating micropattern, nanopattern, and wrinkle on a single substrate. The developed fabrication method allows each structure to be individually controlled, resulting in the unlimited design diversity. Additionally, it was utilized as a superhydrophobic triboelectric nanogenerator (S-TENG). The S-TENG showed superior contact angle characteristics and improved triboelectric effects compared with a film structure because the highly rough surface of the WHS can enhance the hydrophobicity and triboelectric effects. Finally, it was applied to self-powered and water-repellent cough detection sensor.
