When vehicle is stayed at one spot or carried by transport for a long time, tire is deformed by environment elements. It is called tire flat spotting phenomenon. This tire deformation makes the vibration of the vehicle like steering wheel shake, body's under-floor tremble. This research analyzed the results which are induced by each environment elements and found the root causes of the tire flat spotting. It showed that the root causes are the carcass weakness and the stress concentration locally of tire tread applied to the tires. Finally this research suggests the re-occurrence test process for prevent of the tire flat spotting before tire mass production.

The MDPS system, which is currently applied in most passenger cars, determines the output of the MDPS motor torque based on the assist map associated with the steering input torque, which is the steering intent of the driver. Also the MDPS employs a feedforward control logic that provides the driver with the appropriate assist force through motor control. However, the feedforward MDPS control logic has several major drawbacks. In order to compensate for these weaknesses, feedback control logic research has been actively carried out to provide steering feel linked to the current load of the vehicle, and to achieve a consistent steering feel in response to changes in vehicle characteristics. In this paper, the results of the research are explained.
