This paper presents shifting characteristics for a parallel hybrid electric vehicle with dual clutch transmission(DCT). In order to analyze the shifting characteristics, a HEV DCT simulator is developed. Using the simulator, shifting performance such as clutch torque, motor torque and acceleration are investigated. It is found that when the synchronizer that is connected to the motor comes out of the synchronized states to 4th and 6th gear phase, torque interruption occurs. The torque interruption should be minimized by precise motor and clutch control for improved shift quality, which requires future work.

This paper presents shifting characteristics of automated manual transmission(AMT). In order to analyze the shifting characteristics, an AMT simulator is developed by considering the clutch and shift actuator characteristics. Using the simulator, shifting performances such as clutch torque, acceleration and velocity are investigated. It is found that torque interruption occurs during the shifting, which results in negative acceleration. Shift and clutch actuator should be controlled precisely for improved shift quality.
