Various HMI switches are used in vehicle systems. The need to apply capacitive sensors to external switches is increasing. In this paper, We show considerations when applying capacitive sensors as external switches. Also We suggest handling method that is suitable for touch and sensor characteristics of external switches using capacitive sensors. Finally, We evaluate and validate proposed methods through experiment.

The smart headrest can detect gap between driver`s head and headrest. It is required that a technique calculate an optimal target distance. In this paper we study the characteristics of the sensor the underlying technology that can detect the distance between the driver`s head and the headrest. We suggest the 2 Channel sensor and 3 channel sensor using capacitive sensor. We use upper sensor, lower sensor and shoulder sensor. The 2 channel sensor consists of only upper sensor and lower sensor. We compare and evaluate the properties of each sensor. By the result, We know that the 2 channel pattern detection area is large and it was confirmed to be suitable for smart headrest.

Recently, The needs for convenience of a driver are increased. One of the requirements of the user experience is the development of hands-free trunk module. This module can be operated by user kick when a user carry things or hold umbrella in rainy weather. In this paper, we suggest a hands-free trunk module based on kick recognition algorithm. Also we suggest a testing method for it. The suggested system uses two electrostatic capacitance sensors. 임베디드(Embedded)시스템 환경에서는 동작과정에서 램디스크(Ram-disk)영역의 내용을 적절하게 수정하여 운영할 필요성이 있고, 이 경우 휘발성을 갖는 램디스크의 특성상 수정된 데이터를 지속적으로 유지하지 못하게 된다. 매번 수정이 발생할 때마다 재압축과정을 통해 새롭게 이미지를 생성하고 이를 기존의 이미지와 교체하여야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 USB메모리를 이용한 이동식 운영체제를 제안하고 이 운영체제에서 기본적인 커널(Kernel)과 램디스크 이미지의 로딩을 이용한 부팅관리와 수정된 램디스크 이미지에 대한 로그 및 데이터 저장을 통한 램디스크 관리를 수행하는 모델을 제시한다. 이를 통해 다른 보드에서 작업이 수행될 경우에도 사용자의 최종 작업 환경을 유지할 수 있도록 설계 및 구현하였다.

Recently, it is common for infants to die from heat stroke. Therefore, Technology is being developed to detect the remaining passengers of a vehicle while it is parked. In this paper, we propose how to develope the rear occupant detection system using radar and verified the performance of the system by a practical assessment. The proposed system was implemented as a PCB integrated with the antennas. In addition, it can be implemented at a low cost since it is implemented in FR-4 PCB instead of Rogers PCB. The proposed system uses IR-UWB radar to detect movements and breathing that are finer than ultrasound. More research on how to handle noise is needed to implement a more robust system in an external environment.

Recently, many automotive parts are replaced with electronic devices. Because of functional requirements for customer convenience, a number of sensor application part is increasing. On the other hand, capacitive sensor technology has made great progress with the development of touch screen of smart phone. And now, many electronic devices begin to use capacitive sensor instead of mechanical switch. Due to capacitive sensor is good durability and it is possible to miniaturize and it can measure proximity and detect human touch, there are various attempts and studies to use capacitive sensor in the automotive part area. Since, the most common cause of sensor incorrect operation is water, this is difficult factor to apply the sensor to automobile exterior parts. In this paper, we propose a integrated capacitive sensing method that uses both self capacitance and mutual capacitance and by using signal pattern obtained by the sensor it shows the possibility to avoid incorrect operation caused by water.

The trunk switch based on capacitive sensor is a HMI(Human-Machine-Interface) product that allows you to open and close the trunk with a touch. This can be expected to create a high added value of the automotive industry by improving the quality of the vehicle and providing convenience to the driver. However, capacitive sensors are sensitive to environmental factors such as water and are exposed to many malfunctions. In order to verify this, it is necessary to define the evaluation method considering various situations. In this paper, the test is performed considering the number of cases that can affect the trunk, evaluation methods that could cause malfunction could be defined. This will be used as an evaluation index for future verification of capacitive sensor based touch trunk switch samples and software performance improvement.
