The purpose of my work was to suggest as well as to develop a novel horizontal reciprocating wind turbine system. General wind turbines are not suitable for using in the downtown because of huge dimension, noise and danger. The developed prototype wind turbine was designed using Navier-Stokes based CFD(Computational fluid dynamics) analysis and experiments. As a result, it can generate electric energy and charge electric devices like MP3 or cellular phones. However, its overall efficiency was under 20 percent and the amount of energy is smaller than normal chargers due to dimension for wind tunnel test section and DC motor. It is suggested that suitable size, linear generator which has been researched and proper part devices will improve the performance of horizontal reciprocating wind turbine.
