It was recognized that NOx emission and smoke were reduced remarkably with changing the O₂ concentration of intake charge due to adding CO₂ gas and<br/> by controlling injection timing property with the O₂concentration. In (his study<br/> exhaust emissions were analyzed with the combustion characteristics calculated<br/> from cylinder pressure on the O₂ concentration and injection timing for a single cyliner DI diesel engine.
