Objectives: This experimental study was designed to investigate the effect of KangwhalSokdan-tang(Jianghuoxuduan-tang) on the muscle regeneration of atrophied rat muscle by hindlimb suspension. Materialsandmethods: In this study, Sprague-Dawley rats weighing about 250g were subjected to hindlimb suspension and divided into total four groups: Normal group(n=6), Control group(n=6), Hindlimb non-treatment group(n=6), Hindlimb treatment group(n=6). Experiments were seperately tried two times. The first trial was studied by the following two groups; The first was normal group(n=6). The second was group(n=18) for hindlimb suspension during 2 weeks (control I group). The second trial after 2 weeks hindlimb suspension was studied by the following three groups; The third group(n=6) was expired immediately after 2 week shindlimb suspension. The forth group(n=6) was given free activity during 2 weeks after 2 weeks hindlimb suspension. The fifth group(n=6) was administrated of KST during 2 weeks after 2 week shindlimb suspension. In order to investigate degree of muscle atrophy, body weight and gastrocnemius muscle mass were compared. To analyze muscle regeneration factors(expression of IGF-1, Myogenin, MyoD), Western blot was used. Results: The results were analyzed by statistical process as follows, 1. In body weight, all hindlimb suspension groups were lower than normal group, but tendency of increase was shown in KST group compared to non-treatment group after 2 weeks hindlimb suspension. 2. In gastrocnemius muscle mass, KST group on both side was significantly higher than non-treatment group after 2 weeks hindlimb suspension. 3. In case of IGF-I, Type Ⅰ of KST group was significantly increased than non-treatment group, but Type Ⅱ was not shown significance. 4. There was no significantly difference in Myogenin. 5. In MyoD, TypeⅠ of KST group was significantly increased than control group, and Type Ⅱ of KST group was significantly increased than non-treatment group. Conclusions: Insummary, this study demonstrates that KST administration has an effect to prevent muscle atrophy and contribute muscle regeneration and proliferation. And also it is suggested that IGF-Ⅰ and MyoD is major factors of myogenesis expression to KST adminstration after hindlimb suspension.

Objectives: This study was aimed to find out the physiological mechanism of craniosacral therapy, especially in CV4 technique and cranial rhythmic impulses. Methods: Recent studies were reviewed for cranial rhythmic impulses, and the ancient and present text were reviewed for the therapy of sub-occiput and cranial-suture part. Results and Conclusions: 1. Suboccipital muscles releasing may have made CV4 technique to effect. 2. The mechanism of the meridians of acupuncture and craniosacral system can be cooperative together in many parts of the clinical treatments. 3. Arterial vasomotor waves have a frequency similar to reports of cranial rhythmic impulses. The methods which have relation to heart rate variability, will be useful for the study of craniosacral therapy.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the type, sites and period of injuries in Mixed Martial Arts. Methods : The questionnaire composed of 26 items was used as the research tool for this study. The respondents were 84 athletes of Mixed Martial Arts who participated in Spirit MC Amateur League in September, 2007. Data analysis use chi-square examination by SPSS® 12.0 program. Results : 1. Frequently, strikers are damaged at face and waist, grapplers are damaged at knee and waist. 2. Frequently, beginers are damaged at muscle and tendon, experts are damaged at bone and joint. 3. Age, career, specialty and injured type have significant correlations. 4. Age, career, training time and concern response have significant correlations. 5. Oriental medical treatment are friendly but not well-known to the athletes. Conclusions : Injuries of Mixed Martial Arts is multifactorial, so approach of athlete`s individuality is important.
도인(桃仁)이 중대뇌동맥 폐색 유발 흰쥐의 근육형태 변화와 혈관신생에 미치는 영향

Objectives: This study was performed to investigate the effects of Semen Persicae(SP) on muscle type change and vascularization effect by measuring expression of Myosin heavy chain (MHC) and Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) protein in the Middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAo) rats. Methods: The middle cerebral artery was occluded, SP extraction was administrated for 4 days. The effects of SP on muscle type change and vascularization were measured. Results: 1. VEGF protein expressions in the Semen Persicae oral administration group of MCAo group were increased compared to the control group 2. There were no significant difference between the Semen Persicae oral administration of MCAo group and the control group in MHC isoform (Type l, Type lla) expression change. Conclusions: The present study demonstrates the effect of Semen Persicae in the vascularizing after ischemia, but has no significant effect n musle type change and the improvement of musle atrophy.
