A combined RCS and drag optimization study is conducted for the purpose of developing a stealth wing design. A CEM code based on the Maxwell equations is used for the RCS analysis while a CFD code based on the Euler equations is used for the drag analysis. From results of the optimization study based on a adaptive range genetic algorithm, it is found that RCS and drag are minimized in an airfoil dented near 20 percent of the chord length aft of the leading edge.

Aerothermodynamic flowfield characteristics of nozzles were computationally investigated at various nozzle configuration in order to reduce infrared signature. A virtual UAV nozzle was designed through mission and performance analysis. Nozzle and plume flowfield at maximum power was analyzed using a density-based CFD code. Finally, qualitative information for the infrared signature reduction design was obtained through the analysis of the flowfield characteristics at various nozzle configuration.
