고령수발자의 수발실태 및 신체적 · 심리적 · 사회적 특성에 관한 연구

본 연구는 가족 중 일상생활수행능력(ADL)의 장애로 인해 수발이 필요한 대상자를 돌보는 고령수발자의 수발실태를 파악하고, 이들의 신체적?심리적?사회적 특성이 수발대상자가 없는 고령자와 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국노동연구원에서 2010년도에 조사한 제3차 「고령화연구패널조사」 데이터를 사용하였으며, 55세 이상의 고령자 6,357명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 가족 내 수발대상자가 있는 고령자는 전체 응답자의 5.9%(372명)였으며, 이중에서 59.1%(220명)는 요양보호사 등 타인에게 수발을 위탁하고 있었고, 40.9%(152명)는 고령자 본인이 직접 수발하는 것으로 나타났다. 직접 수발자들의 주당 평균 수발시간은 42.05시간(sd=47.46)이었다. 또한 고령자의 신체적 특성인 주관적 건강상태와 심리적 특성인 우울감 및 삶의 만족도는 수발대상자 유무에 따라 집단간 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 반면에 사회적 특성인 모임/단체 참여정도의 집단간 차이는 통계적으로 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 분석 결과를 토대로 고령수발자의 부담감 감소를 위한 정책마련의 필요성과 대안을 제언하였다. This study examined the caring behaviors of the elderly caregivers who had care recipient(s) with problems of Activities of Daily Living(ADL), and analyzed the physicalㆍpsychologicalㆍsocial characteristics between elderly caregivers and elderly people without care recipients. The 3rd panel data of “Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging” in 2010 were used, and 6,357 persons, who were older than or equal to age of 55, were selected and analyzed. The elderly caregivers who had ADL care recipient(s) were 5.9%(372 persons). While the consignment caregivers who employed caregivers were 59.1%(220 persons) of all caregivers, the direct caregivers who cared their recipients by themselves were 40.9%(152 persons). The average caring time per week of the direct caregivers was 42.05 hours(sd=47.46). While depression and life satisfaction as psychological characteristic as well as subjective health condition as physical characteristic had statistically significant differences, club or organization participation as social characteristic didn"t have statistically significant difference between elderly caregivers and other elderly people without care recipients. Based on the analysis results, necessities and alternatives of political measures to lighten the caring burden of elderly caregivers were suggested.
