This paper focus on investigating the influence of the amount of water inflow and the engine speed on the joint reaction force of the connecting rod in engine. A connecting rod was modelled by MSC/PATRAN. the modal informations of it were obtained by the DMAP module in the MSC/ NASTRAN. and the dynamic force history was computed through the flexible multibody dynamic simulation in DADS.<br/> To analyze the dynamic force acting on the connecting rod. the 21 cases were investigated. The engine speed varies with 1000. 2400. and 4000rpm, and the volumetric ratio of water to the combustion chamber with 0. 40. 70. 90. 100. 150. and 200%. This study shows that if the amount of water inflow exceeds the volume of the combustion chamber, the connecting rod fractures and that in case of diesel engine with larger compression ratio than that of gasoline engine the amount of water inflow has a considerable influence on the stress state of a connecting rod<br/>

To evaluate the safety and durability of the vehicle structure in the vehicle developing stage, many times and efforts have been required. It is difficult to find the reason of crack which was occurred in the body and frame of a vehicle during tests. Recently computer aided engineering technology has rapidly<br/> raised to solve the problems of safety and durability of the vehicle.<br/> In this study, dynamic stress analysis is performed to the frame of the vehicle by rigid and flexible<br/> multibody dynamic techniques during bump pass. The results of the analysis are compared to those of the test. The full vehicle dynamic models for the rigid and flexible body are accomplished by DADS; a special code for dynamic analysis. Dynamic stress analysis procedure is also developed using the accomplished dynamic models.
