In multi-cylinder reciprocating engine, piston movement makes fluctuation of crankcase pressure, and the fluctuation is converted to pumping loss which is part of cngine friction. The excessive fluctuating pressure makes increase of engine friction, and causes decrease of power, low fuel efficiency and increase of engine oil temperature. In this paper, crankcase dynamic pressure is measured according to crankcase inner flow area. Also engine friction and maximum oil temperature are measured in each case and the relationships of data are established. In this test, making lower crankcase dynamic pressure has effects on increase of power about 1O.9PS, inlprovement of fuel economy about 5% at 2000rpm BMEP 2.0bar, decrease of maximum engine oil temperature more than 10°C at 3000rpm.<br/> <br/> "rJL7]~%D1 : Crankcase Pumping(3."}J3.7I]0]6 ~>g), Friction(U}~)<br/> <br/> <br/> I.
