비온은 분석가는 피분석자의 말을 듣기보다는 피분석자의 이야기를 듣고 있는 자기 자신을 들어야 한다고 한다. 담는 것과 담기는 것 안에서 피분석자의 연상들 안에 있는 내용을 듣는 임상적 순간에, 자신이 경험하는 것과 그 과정을 듣고 느껴야 한다는 것으로, 비온이 생각하는 정신 병리는 궁극적으로 불완전하거나 성공적이지 못한 담아주기의 결과이다. 분석가는 피분석자가 온전히 분석의 장안에서 자신의 존재가 수용되어지고 받아들여지는 담김의 경험을 하길 원할 것이다. 그렇다면 분석가는 언어로 표현되지 못하고 던져지는, 피분석자의 정서적 언어를 통해 느껴지는 정서적 진실을 어떻게 하면 담을 수 있을까? 어떻게 하면 피분석자가 분석가의 몽상 안에 있을 수 있을 것인가? 비온의 담아내기는 분석가가 피분석자와의 사이에서 발생하는 전이와 역 전이를 통해 느끼는 고통을 인내심을 가지고, 피분석자의 것이라고 느껴지는 감정이 분석가 자신의 내면에서 찾아질 때까지 모호함 속에서 기다려야 하는 힘든 과정이다. 이러한 정서적 진실과 담아내기, 몽상, 꿈 사고, 선택적 사실 등에 초점을 둔 비온의 개념들은 현재 상담현장에서 사용되는 주요 임상적 도구이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 비온의 여러 개념들 중 몽상, 선택된 사실, 꿈 사고, 담아주기 등 비온의 주요 개념들에 대해 알아보고 특히 ‘선택된 사실’이 정신분석적 치료의 임상사례에서 구체적으로 어떻게 적용되고 해석되었는지 살펴보고자 한다. Bion says that the analyst should listen to himself listening to the patient rather than listen to the patient. Bion says that the analyst have to hear and feel what he experience at the clinical moment when he hear what’s inside the patient’s associations in the process of container and contained, and says psychopathology is the result of unstable or unsuccessful containing. The analyst would like that the patient have an experience of contained in which his existence is fully accepted and accommodated in the field of analysis, so how can the analyst contain the emotional truth felt through the emotional language of the patient which is thrown out without expressing in language? How can the patient be in the analyst’s reverie? Bion’s containing is a difficult process of patiently waiting for the moment when the analyst can feel the emotions of the patient inside him with the pain arised through transference and countertransference between the analyst and the patient. Bion’s concepts, which focus on these emotional truths and containing, riverie, dream-thought, and selected facts, are currently the main clinical tools used in the counseling field. Therefore, in this study, I would like to examine how ‘selected facts’ was specifically applied and interpreted in the clinical case of psychoanalytic treatment among the main concepts of Bion such as riverie, selected facts, dream-thought and containment.
