본 연구는 영아반 교사들이 어떠한 직무스트레스를 경험하는지 살펴보고 직무스트레스 완화를 위한 영아반 교사들의 기대와 요구가 무엇인지 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기지역의 만 0∼2세 영아반 교사 11명을 대상으로 면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 영아반 교사는 심리적인 직무스트레스와 신체적인 직무스트레스를 모두 경험하고 있었다. 영아반 교사는 영아기에 대한 이해 부족과 영아반 교사를 비전문직으로 생각하는 편견으로 인해 자존감이 낮아짐을 경험할 때 직무스트레스를 받고 있었다. 또한 영아반의 특성과는 다른 규정이나 이론을 고려해야하거나 신체적인 소진을 느낄 때 직무스트레스를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 영아반 교사는 직무스트레스를 완화하기 위해 교사의 경험이 반영된 영아반 교사 배치를 원하고 있었으며, 영아반 교사의 일손을 도울 수 있는 도우미나 인터교사의 배치를 희망하고 있었다. 또한 영아반 교사의 전문성 향상을 위해 영아 교사들 간의 교류 활성화를 요구하였으며, 사회적으로 영아기를 이해하고 존중하는 인식의 변화가 이루어지기를 기대하였다. The purpose of study was to find out infant class childcare teachers` experiences of job stress and their needs to reduce job stress. In-depth interviews with 11 childcare teachers in infant class for ages 0-2 were implemented to understand their experiences of job stress and to find out their needs to reduce job stress. The findings of the study indicated that childcare teachers in infant classes experienced psychological stress as well as physical stress. They reported that they experience job stress when they encounter disrespect for infant classes and misconception of childcare teachers in infant classes as mere caregivers who do not need professionalism. They also stand that the large gap between theory and practices as well as regulations that do not reflect realities of infant classes aggravate their job stress. In addition, childcare teachers in infant classes often experienced physical hardships due to the developmental characteristics of early years. In order to reduce their job stress, the teachers expressed the need for allocating more teachers and assistant teachers in infant classes who have adequate experiences in infant care. They also thought more active interactions among teachers to share knowledge in teaching infants and increased level of social respect for teachers in infant classes could reduce their job stress.
