Polymers have commonly an extremely low thermal conductivity of an order of ~0.1 W/m-K due to their chain entanglement. To overcome this drawback, many techniques have been developed such as chain drawing, blending, crosslinking. Among them, crosslinking has recently attracted lots of attention because many studies have shown the possibility of enhancement of thermal conductivity in the theoretical and numerical ways. However, several researches reported adverse effect of crosslinking on the improvement of thermal conductivity. In this work, we measured the thermal conductivity of PAA (polyacrylic acid) electrospun nanofibers, which were crosslinked and pH regulated in order to further enhance the thermal conductivity of the nanofibers.

Studying not particularly conspicuous accidents of repatriating the scrap irons from the Chinese wrecked ship at Jeju Island by the Chosun governments from 1809 to 1871, this paper arrived at the conclusion that it is due to the traditional tributary system of ‘Sino-Barbarical’ East Asian nations. These accidents being happened at the same sea-area in the same middle 19th century with the opium war lead us to consider the phenomenal problem of the Needham Puzzle. Why the Chinese already achieving ‘the industrial revolution’ in Song dynasty by producing high level of irons and coal had not come to the real modernization? Criticizing the famous theory of great divergency by Pomeranz, this paper as a clue to the Needham puzzle proposed the tributary system which is closed-inland, unequal, and hierarchical cleary shown in tragic and comic way through the 29 accidents of repatriating the scrap irons.

Effective thermal properties of electrical double layer capacitors (EDLCs) were measured using the in-operando hot-wire 3 method. The variation of thermal property was observed during charging and discharging under a constant current mode. Then, the thermal properties were estimated by fitting a simulation result to experimental data.
