전력계통이 초고압, 대규모화되고 대용량 전력설비들의 고신뢰도 운전이 한층 요망되고, 가공전선로의 경과지 확보가 어려운 환경에서 해저케이블의 건설 기법 도입 되고 있다. 현재 도서지역 및 대규모 하천을 횡단시 물밑전선로 시공법을 개발 및 적용하여 건설이 되고 있으나 물밑전선로의 공정 특성상 굴착/포설, 되메우기등일련의 공정이 연속적으로 진행됨에 따라 검사시기 불일치 시 검사입회가 불가하여 사용전 검사시 선로의 안정성과 위험요소들을 파악할 수가 없어 중간검사를 통하여 케이블 및 시공의 신뢰성과 안정성을 확보해야 하며 향후 지속적인 연구와 관심이 뒷받침되어져야 할 것이다.
